Bought 2 unlocked them using this method in 30 secs! Works fine on orange! What a bargain!!

    k ;D

Yes I unlocked mine- and they do work with orange, so long as you are only picking up Orange's 2G signal-
if you are also getting their 3G signal ( which I get about 80% of the time) you will need a software reset
( this issue is actually covered in the manual page 65 - set as Dual mode rather than GSM - can not swap it without a reset)

Thanks to --_Adam_--, I have successfully unlocked the 7600 on all networks (or atleast T-mobile).

    From my experience:

    1. You can unlock using the method posted on another thread by --_Adam_-- (telephone bills etc) and you can use definitely on T-mobile (as I just tested it successfully).

    2. Once you unlock, you cannot use 3g sim in this phone anymore as the option to search for the 3g network disappears.

    3. You cannot use orange or vodafone with the above mentioned unlocking method as orange/vodafone 3g service conflict (I think) with 3g.

    4. To be able to fully use this phone with all networks, you must take the phone to a shop/market stall to get a factory reset (as I heard from different sources).

The above information is what I found and please do some personal research just to double check.

For future reference, buy the phone if it is a good deal as carphonewarehouse have a returns policy allowing you to return goods to any store if you later decide you do not want it.

    HTH.

agreed as well, the option to search for 3G networks is the only option when a 3 sim is in, when a non 3 sim is in it searches for 3G networks then 2G networks
  • when it comes to unlocking the phone,im thinking of using trycktill, but im not quite sure what the boxserial thing is.any ideas?should i have the network set to 3 and then leave it at whatever it comes up at automatically?

I unlocked a 7600 yesterday using that site. Choose the Three network and leave the boxserial as it is. It worked a treat for me :)

I asked same question on a different thread.

    Got this answer:
manually type in 32802 as box serial, then try code 7, then 1 if 7 fails

worked first time for me using code 7

Thats something I assumed (wrong!). I did a manual search with my tmobile sim and only the 2G networks came up. To this day, I still havent put in my 3G sim (cos I heard the credit activates as soon as you activate the sim), so I couldnt double-check that.

it activates as soon as you try to make the first call on it

it puts you through to an automated customer service thing that registers it, I never had to give any details when i did it
