I didn't say that I said where programs are effective they should be maintained and new ones introduced. However we clearly do not have a real solution for alcohol addiction that works because if we did then we wouldn't have 1.4 million alcoholics in the country. I hope a solution is found, I doubt that solution comes in the package of an old man with white hair that goes to gigs trying to convince himself he won a vote a few months backHmm, religion and community having positive effects, who knew? Have you considered that those positive effects are the reason councils provide things like leisure centres and community halls? So people can be social? Sounds like the sort of thing we should all contribute towards because its good for all of us, even if we dont use them ourselves we could bendfit from others doing better in their lives.
Yes I am all for parks and leisure centers (the ones that are actually used). Not sure on the religion front definitely not government funded! but overall I am more against than pro religion seeing as the basis for all religions seems to be ignore reality when it flies in the face of scripture and anything that says ignore reality and put fantasy first is probably not a net good.0 -
well clearly if people are still addicted then there is no effective solution right? you contradict yourself and you look very stupid.
:rotfl: i look stupid? After the complete lack of any knowledge youre demonstrating about addiction? Yeah, okay then, sure.
Think this calls for a few more actually :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
If there is no effective treatment to addiction, ending treatment programs wouldnt have any affect on the number of addicts indulging in their addiction, there would be no increase in deaths, no changes whatsoever. This is demonstrably false, look up information on when programs have been stopped or trials have ended, e.g.methadone programs, rehab funding cut etc.

Imbecile.
If there are effective solutions to addictions why are there so many addicts?
Are they too expensive or not scaleable or have high failure rates?
There arent many people suffering or dying from bacterial infections anymore because there is a solution, antibiotics. Why are millions suffering from addictions if there is a solution? there are solutions to these horrific problems but they are not implemented is that what you are saying?
Is it them dam Tories policy? What about in Norway where the alcohol problem seems to be twice as bad?0 -

It's a shame, but I'm making judicious use of the ignore button on this thread right now. It has been so badly threadjacked that it is the only way to refine the thread to read stuff about Brexit but ignore the five pages of mudslinging that you now get between on topic posts.
I don't like having to do this to people I have no personal issue with, but if they are so passionate about something, why not start a thread about it instead of wrecking this one? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
