Brexit, The Economy and House Prices (Part 2)

If only Merkel would've thrown Cameron a kipper 18 months ago. 'Big Lizzie' would have helped 'project' the EU's foreign policy agenda quite nicely. Hey-ho.
Do you personally believe the EU should have done anything? Cameron could easily have come back telling everyone what a great compromise he'd forced the evil EU into... that anyone without a job after 3 months would be sent back. He could have claimed success against any of the 'evils' the right wing press have been conjuring up for decades, correcting their falsehoods and taking credit for it as a change made possible thanks to him.
But he didnt. He wouldn't call the bluff of the daily mail - honestly, what would they have done? Tell the uneducated masses that in fact Cameron is the latest of successive UK governments to use the EU as a scapegoat for their own unpopular choices? And risk handing Corbyn, who's had no strong association with any past administration, the keys to number 10? Dont be daft!0 -

I'm surprised people in this country are stupid enough to vote for something that will do a lot of harm, on promises made by the likes of Gove and Johnson. But then again, people for a long time have paid attention to Farage, a bloody banker of all people, pretending to care about the people of this country.
Worse, while it certainly ended the career trajectory of Cameron, are people honestly naive enough to not realise this country's elite will thrive whatever the outcome of the referendum? We are not all in this together, never have been never will. The public would do well to just do the opposite of whatever the sun and daily mail say is right/good idea, that would achieve some positive results across the board.
I was just using it as an example, speculating on finer points makes it harder to illustrate the outcomeAt any rate, we'll just start importing non-EU nationals wholesale - personally I look forward to it driving the bigots insane, it's just tragic that the bigots will inevitably take the frustration of their own personal life failings out on those poor people we bring in.
One of the biggest PR victories in British history is how the Right has managed to persuade poor people to vote Tory and absorb media from non dom billionaires.
The faux rebellion of Brexit was manufactured by media barons who openly stated they hate the EU because it won't allow them to monopolise the news media in the way they have done in the UK.
The Tory cabinet is comprised of privileged millionaires who would struggle to locate any point in their lives where they couldn't pay a bill or had to go without something.
And every 5 years millions of people on £18k a year get up in the morning, read the Sun and the Mail and go and vote for them, exactly like they are told.
If there was ever an example of turkeys voting for Christmas.0 -

Sums up the Remainer outlook on life. A nasty little mixture of labeling as bigots anybody who dared to have a different opinion to themselves, combined with eagerly hoping for a poor Brexit outcome so they can indulge in schadenfreude.
Can't be much fun for you.0 -

:rotfl: I was saying it will drive the bigots insane, as in racists who voted leave because they wanted to get rid of immigrants. I didn't say, nor do I believe, that all leave voters are bigots. You've assumed. Sums up the typical brexiter, can't and or won't read.
The vast majority of people who will get angry about non-EU immigration will be those who don't like brown faces, Muslims.... just anyone who isn't white and from an English speaking Commonwealth country. I call them bigots because that's exactly what they are.
If you're against immigration based on pressure on public services, when immigrants are net contributors to the exchequer, then it's the UK governments failure to spend that tax on adequate public services, then yes, you are a racist. You're blaming the wrong people for the situation because of who those people are, even though the evidence shows it's on the government.
As someone else has posted earlier, remainers (myself included) aren't hoping for a bad outcome, we just don't indulge in the fantasy that this is going to go well. schadenfreude will just be a silver lining... alongside the people who voted leave for racist reasons (not to be confused with all leave voters) seeing immigration continue as before, just from somewhere else.0 -
If you think schadenfreude is any kind of silver lining you have a strange outlook.
The rest of what you posted appeared to be another load of stuff saying Brexit voters were closet racists.0 -

Try again. Not all brexit voters are racist, but I'd put good money on all racists being pro brexit. I'm looking forward to those that voted leave because they are racists, not getting what they want. How the hell can you think racists not getting what they want is a bad thing?0 -

And another thinly-veiled Brexit voters are racist post.
As boring and relevant as me saying not all whinging, moaning endlessly dull sore losers are Remainers
However all Remainers....0 -
Every single racist, bigot, and xenophobe I have ever met in my life in this country will have voted for Brexit and stayed up celebrating the result.
If you're not one of these people, and I appreciate that most Leave voters aren't, you are still stuck with that fact that they see you as one of them.0 -

Yes, but betrayed by who?
I think everyone will feel betrayed by the government for "not listening to the people" and for everyone that voted the wrong way. After the referendum I have to say that I probably said on this or the earlier thread. "At least when Britain has left the EU they will stop blaming the EU for all Britains problems"
I'm willing to bet that our politicians will continue to blame the EU for at least a decade after leaving for "punishing" us or for "forcing us into a deal". Unless we've rejoined the EU by then, in which case it'll be indefinite.
If they were willing to take any responsibility for being incompetent they wouldn't be politicians.0
