Ah yes, Newsthump - that most-respected form of British journalism. "UK spoof news and satire" says it all really.

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

The desperation of some people is becoming even more palpable when such sources are used. Oh, and we'll ignore the EU shambles which is affecting so many visitors to the EU from around the world which that is supposed to refer to will we?

It'll actually be interesting with Brexit whether the UK will relax data sharing legislation since it won't be bound by the EU anymore.

I do hope so. I run a very modest payroll and was glibly informed I need to follow all sorts of new robust data protection procedures to ensure staff records are safe and so on. Seemingly good old adult common sense and autonomy are things of the past.

Anyway I told them to poke it and said I keep all data in my head, there is no stored record, lol! What will they do, a dawn raid on my PC..

You have a choice of any country in the world to work in so long as you meet their criteria for doing so. Stop with the lies, it's over already, we're leaving.

    We'll see about that.

    Erm. Yes.

I did realise it was a satirical spoof news site when posting the link. *sigh*
Don't blame me, I voted Remain.

Oh - and you were not really trying to portray that as somehow being typical of British holidaymakers by posting it, were you?
    *sigh - and shakes head*

Question for u guys, seeing as I 'know' you, lol!

What sort of yield can one get these days on £200k stuffed into some sort of packaged equity investment (not an annuity)? A reasonable spread risk would be acceptable.

Nothing would be tax free (aside from gradually feeding an ISA) I would guess.

From memory I'd be looking at unit Trust or similar right? I'm not up for buying my own shares, been there done that.

Any Europe (Excluding UK) Equity fund should be a good bet.

I would think it unlikely I would want much exposure to Europe given the vast anti biz regulations coming down the pipe such as Basal 4 and Mifid 2. not to mention huge downside risk from any number of choke points, from Greece to Italy, Portugal to unrest over mass immigration

So you're going to ignore my earlier post altogether?

Nope, but nothing you said negates my point. One of the key aspects in a negotiation is the negotiating. You can't get anything until you discuss it. Playing so close to your chest that your opposite can't do anything doesn't give you any strength, comes across as weakness and just reduces the time available to actually discuss things.

We're going to have to tell them what we want eventually, so why not get stuck in and try to get it over with?

The conditions for us begging to be let into europe will happen again..

I'm entirely confident that we'll have rejoined the EU (or it's successor) in my lifetime, probably before I retire in 33 years.
