FWIWDavis won’t stay in Brussels for the full week, according to a U.K. official. The hour-to-hour management of the talks will be left to Permanent Secretary for the Department for Exiting the European Union Oliver Robbins, who will lead the negotiating team.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_presidential_election,_2017Macron completes electoral grand slam amid record-low turnoutFor the first time in history, turnout in a legislative election has slumped to below 50%, in both rounds. On Sunday, a mere 43% of voters bothered to cast their ballots. This means the 42% of votes won by LREM candidates account for less than 20% of registered voters.
Low French turnout also reported in UK media here for example:French election turnout worst in modern history as Emmanuel Macron heads for landslide victory in parliament0 -

We were talking presidential elections.
Macron was not a candidate for the parliamentary elections.
Please do keep up.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

The one not keeping up then is you.
It would therefore appear that my original response was entirely pertinent which it naturally follows makes your response(s) impertinent.0 -

:rotfl:The record level of abstention underscored the widespread election fatigue accumulated over more than 12 months of non-stop campaigning0 -

The French are more likely to take to the streets, strike and riot, or blockade Channel ports. When they don't like something.I agree. I suspect that Frech voters were voting against other candidates than for Macron.
Which clearly points to Macron as a candidate, i.e. presidential elections.
Let's move on.Don't blame me, I voted Remain.0 -

Where do your links mention an abstention rate of 58% - that sounds extraordinarily high?
I did not supply a link in my original, look again.
But here:At 42 per cent, turnout was at a record lowNever before has voter abstention been so high, at roughly 58 percent, according to one exit poll.0 -

A newly founded party with little electoral support now controls French democracy. If that occured in the UK there would be meltdown. Not a system to unite people together.0 -
