Going to wrap July up at £436.64 - like Pennygrabber said, most stuff I buy this afternoon will be eaten in August so maybe I am cheating a little bit :p (also PG would love to know how you manage to budget £100 for 3 of you - tips/meal plans welcome)

Good news is I have just actually FINISHED a carton of houmous, this is probably a first in our house, they usually get chucked when past the use by date and still half full...

See you over in August. We are on hol part of it but SC so I will still be budgeting.
    GC Feb 2019 (to 10th) £397.07/£300

I'm declaring but admitting that my £3000 for the year budget just isn't going to happen with prices going up and my lifestyle changes - work and fitness.

So, I am upping my annual allowance to £3500 if that is OK. Its huge compared to many of you and I feel rather guilty, but I know we each have our own circumstances. I could stay lower, but sacrifice wholesome for quick and good meat for cheaper, but if I don't have to, I don't want to.

So 202.54 Groceries and £92.40 Bulk Buy this month. This takes my overall total to a staggering  £1857.35/£3,500 or 53/58% of the year.
    Goals - Weight loss 6/26lb at 22nd Jan 18
    Mmmm. 26lb at 1/7/18. Oops:o

Oh no, please don't feel guilty. We're all doing this to suit our own budgets/circumstances/preferences - there's no "one size fits all". :)

  • Well, I predicted right: left to his own devices, Mr E went over budget by $100-odd. He was juggling a new dog, two children and various other disasters and just went for the easiest options and I can't blame him at all! Cupboards are full of branded snacks and soft drink, so it'll be a fun week at least.

I feel fine about this month though. I am sure I would have made it in on budget, and I'm getting better every month. See you in August!
MFW diary here. 1 Feb 2017 $229,371 - MFD Feb 2043  aiming for May 2028

A few spends over the weekend puts me on £472.26/£425. I know that seems a lot over but I am getting closer to where I want to be. The extra £10/week I have spent would be reduced by eating less takeaway and ensuring DH has lunch prepared and does not buy food at work. My actual food shop isn't the problem. Breaking my spending down by week and identifying takeaway and work spends separately has helped me this month.

Next month we are on holiday for 2 weeks so there will be no excuse for takeaways during this time and no work food temptations. We will be at home some of the time so will have to watch we don't have too many treats.

My budget runs up until Thursday but I am not expecting to spend anything extra but wont declare until then.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

  • I won't be spending anymore this month, but need a big(ish) shop tomorrow. Would like to declare at £39.09 for the month - It's the best I have ever done, got to use up so much of my storecupboard stuff. Leftover monies will be put into the bulk buy fund. See you over on August.

Under the wire! But actually there's plenty in my freezer in terms of meat to see me through the next few weeks, so I don't feel too bad about it.

First month challenge done and spent a total of £255.23/£200

A few things to learn from August - make sure OH is aware we are eating what we have in the pantry/freezer otherwise he'll buy things for the already full freezer and cupboards!

£4 for some chicken thighs for last night's tea brings me in under budget. I am surprised, as it always looks as though it won't be possible towards the end of the month. My family got a bit horrified by the almost empty fridge and the emptying fruit bowl but it does mean that they have eaten things they would have ignored if fresh stuff had arrived. Even so, there are apples/plums on the tree, dried fruit in the cupboard, HM bread and cake, cheese, salad and garden veg, fish and meat in the freezer. We were never going to starve!

Congratulations all on the completion of another month

See you over on the August thread :)
