the OPs bank wont take the hit, it will be whichever bank the money went into, like paypal you will get your money and then the bank will try and recover this from the sellers bank account

at least i am being helpful suggesting the OP to speak to the bank to try and get the money back from the scammer.

Is Section 25 a bit like like Section 75?

To the OP you can request a chargeback, the worst that can happen is they refuse, but you dont get charged for the request so you may as well try.

Just be aware tho if they refuse they refuse, and money is probably lost then.

Exactly, just some on here are trying to tell the OP your money is lost so dont bother, but no harm is speaking to bank and get the ball rolling.

I believe some said categorically that Chargeback carries the same legal weight as Section 75.

I believe some needed educating otherwise.

The OP's money is indeed very likely lost, but nowhere did I suggest that he not at least attempt a chargeback.
