I also watched this on youtube. I presumed the lady sold more than one cupcake ie. a box, if not I don't know what she was doing with the odd sock:rotfl::rotfl: I have just made a couple and have used tgwo pairs of asda socks which are quite thick. I have used two for the cup and two for the icing.

For getting the toy to stay on top of the cake cut a small piece of card, round of the end and stick it down between nappies leaving a bit up the back of the toy. Then cut a slit and pop the tag through the slit. That is what I do but maybe someone else has a better idea.

I once googled 'what to do with odd socks' and found a website with some very strange / weird / creepy suggestions!!!!:rotfl:

Great tip for the toys!! I tend to use a corsage pin - i get them cheap from the florist wholesaler - and pin it to the blanket at the back

No but its fairly long with a large round head so it doesnt get lost in the cake. Plus you can get them in pink, blue and cream so they co-ordinate!!

Oooh they sound nice so do you get them from local florist or online?

Hi - glad the thread is a bit happier again, I feel safe to come back now :-).

Someone mentioned a costing spreadsheet before I think, is anyone willing to share this with me pretty please? I have just done a cake for someone for £15 then when I added it up realised that I would not actually make any money so think I need to get things calculated before I quote prices!

Also what do you do about the clothing having labels on from shops? Is that allowed?

Any more tips on how to get the soft toys to stay on top of a one tiered cake and sit upright?

I think all of your cakes are wonderful and this thread is soooo inspiring.
    Thanks

It depends on the toy, if they won't sit by themselves, i either use card (the bit out of the packs of vests) or a wooden skewer with the point chopped off. I have also used an elastic band either around a couple of the nappies & the teddys legs or round the card/skewer & the teddys middle!

    HTH
