That is so funny, my dh got one of those shop bought guinness pints with a pair of slippers for his birthday this week. I thought i would have a go at making them but i'm not too keen on using glass incase they get broken so i was going to use a hard plastic pint glass. Do you think that would be ok?
Has anyone been to the guinness factory in dublin, we went the other year it was great, we got quite a few goodies free so i could use them with the pints.:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boysWant to be fit for 30 not fat at 30but i want never gets!!!0 -

Hi Kim and Popkins,
For starting out with cupcakes I would recommend the asda towelling socks, think they're 3 pairs for £1.25. Because they're thicker socks it makes them easier to roll and look good!
I have two packs of these sitting in a box. I will have to go and give them a try. Is it just one pair of socks per cupcake?
How do you roll them?0 -
We loved the factory not to everyones tastes both the tour and the drink :rotfl: and it was quite expensive i think but our family are irish so found the history really intresting. You get a free pint of guinness at the end of the tour on the 7th floor in the gravity bar which has a 360 degree view of dublin you can stay there for as long as you like and buy more drinks. It was quite romantic really as we stayed to watch the sun go down while we sipped our pint.:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boysWant to be fit for 30 not fat at 30but i want never gets!!!0

DD is only 18 and does not drink so maybe she won't want to go:rotfl:0 -
Hi Irlip,
Yes it is one pair per cake. I sort of fold 1 sock in half lengthways if that makes any sense, then roll from the toe end up and secure with a band. I then fold the second sock in the same way and roll this around the other sock and secure with another band. Then you just need to kind of tweak them a bit until you get them how you like them really. I use glass buttons on top of mine to look like cherrys.0 -

I understand that one :rotfl: see I told you it was awkward to explain! :rotfl: I do this for both my cupcakes and also my little sock truffles! but then for the cupcakes I roll one to make it into a cup if that makes sense!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

I will give it a try tomorrow, thanks:T0 -
Ive got a question about cellophane. I dont seem to be able to make it fit all the way up on one tier let alone if I were to try a 3 tiered cake? Is there something I am doing wrong? It seems the width of all three types of cello I have will not be large enough?

As a newbie who is slowly working her way through the read- is there anything else small i could attempt? Already had a go at cupcakes/roses.0
