I have just made fathers day gifts,
pint glass £1 Asda, filled with I pair black sport socks 50p Primark, topped with a cream face cloth 44p also Primark and a Guiness bank from Poundland.
It looks like a can of Guiness and the poured pint, I'm well pleased...cost to me £3, selling for £6.50 and folks are loving them!! :rotfl:
I make these aswell and sell themNot done any for a short while and my first attempt was really poor (there is a pic on the flannel thread from ages ago) but now they look ok

Just finished 2 of my boys "Tops & Toes" cakes. Bought loads of shoes in the sales so am just making them up at moment but don't think they will do very well as they look a bit grown up!
P.S. Sorry, didn't have time to make pic smaller - am off babysitting now!
Wow!!! They look beautiful! you must be the ribbon queen, I seriously recommend you get your name out there and advertise as I reckon you would sell loads, they really are beautiful"Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

I use parcel2go, I use the 72 hour courier which is normally there in 48 hours and costs about £8 to post (just under I think it is)Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
hi Irlrip
I say go for it. If I had the chance to do one in a well-established busy market I would. June gives you tons of time to get cake-making and even if you don't sell anything on the day it is not too dear a price to pay for advertising. If it were me (never done one before) I would make some smaller items to sell too, like cupcakes or sock rosebud thingies, so that people can afford that and will come back for more (assuming you have flyers made with your contact details on). Don't be scared - take the plunge honey.
My only question would be - 'do you need public/products liability insurance ?' Worth asking the organisers.
Oh I don't know that, can anyone else tell if they required that for fairs?
Moonpenny - Gorgeous cakes as usual:D0 -
Hiya everyone - I have been trying to have a play and make some sock cupcakes but I can't get them to look right - not sure what I'm doing wrong but obviously something!! Tried to find a how to on youtube but there wasn't much there and the only one I could find was using only one sock for the outer bit and then a pair in the middle - well thats no good to give someone an odd sock!!
Any advice would be greatly welcome please as I'd like to make some of these for when I do the school fete as I guess they sell well on the day - being cheaper and everything!!

A question: there's no Dunelm, ASDA, Ikea near me. Where would be good to get cheap blankets/towels/other baby stuff etc?
Hi Sunny Saver, Matalan have nice fleece baby blankets. They are £3.00 each which I think is a fine price for a blanket if you cant get the £1.99 ones from the other shops. Also when they have 3 for 2 reduces prices even more. If you dont have Matalan then I dont know, I'm afraid. x0 -

Hiya and thankyou,
I now buy most of stuff from mothercare, boots, marks and spencers and John Lewis- usually in the sales or as it often is in Boots mini mode there is a buy one get one half price offer. I think that if these cakes and bouquets are going to be gifts and I am going to sell them at the prices that I do, then it seems a shame to use supermarket branded clothing. I do however, sometimes buy booties for my mini cakes from ASDA and some muslin cloths. Scratch mitts are good from Matalan. As for blankets and towels I tend to get those from local shops but only if they are good quality. Most of my blankets are from John Lewis as I can get them at discounted prices and they are gorgeous!
Dont get me wrong I dress myself and my children in George- nothing wrong with the quality...
