So if I am going to attempt to make 2 cakes (first ever go) will I be better buying the cellophane from Ebay or a florist?
What about the ribbon?
How wide do I need the cellophane?
Anyone got any good ebay suppliers?0 -

Julie personally I wouldn't stick them on ebay anyway, you will probably sell more at your fayres!Rusty no need to be sorry, im grateful for your advice.... I havent handed lots of leaflets out, but people have photocopied them and passed them on I think. I could always explain when people ring to order that there is another available slighly different. Do you think I should charge the same or a little more as I would think it be more expensive with the babygros and baby lotion instead of the vests and socks
I think you could just swap and change as you please. Depending on how much profit you make on the cake anyway would depend on if you needed to charge more. for a bedtime cake I charge £20 but mine are old now and haven't redone mine as yet, my attempts now I look back were awful and hideous. I revamped all of my cakes and still have a few others that I need to redo.Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
For the lady after cellophane, a lot of the girls on this part of the forum use a company called flowerhour. https://www.flowerhour.co.uk and she also trades on ebay, the prices I think are the same for both. She is supposed to be good. I personally used her once and vowed never to again! I buy my cello on massive rolls from a warehouse for a tiny price!Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0

I have just had an email offering me a stall in the next towns yearly market in June (VERY BUSY market). I have been lucky to get a stall on my first application!
I how feel sick at the thought:( Do I go for it? The table is £45:eek:
For all of you that have done fairs what would I need to take with me?
How many cakes? Obviously flyers.
What else do I take to try and sell on the day to try and recoup my costs?
I have to let them know by tomorrow if I want the stall.
So many questions sorry but I don't want to make a fool of myself:o0 -

Thanks for that. Sorry for all the questions but how much cello will I need for an average 3 tier cake?0 -
Depends on how you wrap it, I use cello all over as I don't use boards and I use approx 2-3 metres dependant on the type of teddy I use on my cake.
I know Bella and now a couple of the other girls use a tube method where they tape it to the board underneath so uses less, (I would say probably around 1 metre although I am guessing as I have never used this method!)Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -

Buying from Ebay question.
I have to admit that Ebay scares me:o I have only ever bought one thing and I sent a cheque as PayPal looked too scary:o
I now want to buy a few things and the seller only accepts PayPal.
Is it quite straight forward?
Sorry to sound thick but have heard so many bad things about Ebay.0 -
Me too Irlrip - I need to order a few things from ebay and have never used it. The delivery prices often put me off.
I can understand you feeling nervous about the stall but - go for it!!! If it doesn't work, than you havn't lost that much and like the girls say, you will get your name about.
Having said that, I havn't done one either! LOl
Rusty, You mentioned you used big rolls of cello. I just got 100 mt roll and was trying to find a way of putting it on some sort of roller to make it easier to cut. Have you done anything like that? Have given up because of the weight and will carry on cutting it on the bed.
Also, Has any of you girls fixed something up for reels of ribbon? I thought a small cheap curtain pole (on the wall) would be a good idea but havn't found anything cheap enough at mo. Any suggestions girls?0
