Your cake is beautiful! Well done! Can I ask what you used to cover your bottom layer of nappies? and also what is around the top tier, it really works well!!

absolutely beautiful. and thankyou for the link to the bowmaker, I ordered one last week so will see how I get on with it!

Thanks girls, glad you like it. I think it's my best one yet!

Rusty, Thank you. It's a vest on the bottom tier! Obviously this means the the bottom and middle tiers aren't linked together with anything in the middle which wouldn't suit everyone. I do use a little bit of clothing tape to keep it kinda in place. Once in cello it tends to stay put anyway. Maybe it's cos the middle tier has a mini bottle of wine inside it which is fairly weighty.
Around the top tier is one of those burping cloths from poundland. Packs of 5 and excellent quality for the price. Someone is selling them on fleabay:

Let me know how you get on with the bowmaker :)

Oooh yeah, who is it who wraps the cello in a tube fashion around the cake? Thank you sooo much for this suggestion. I wrapped my blue one using that techinque and omg, how much easier is it! So much neater too. Thanks again anyway :)

Riggerz it can just take time. I hadn't had an order from Jan to feb but then they come and go ... remember that not everyone is having babies ;)

Can I ask a question ... for a triplet cake should I use 3 of everything the same? i.e clothes wise. Blankets I was going to use 3 the same unless I can find some nice identical ones in neutral colours if that makes sense. As for the toys not sure about them, wether to use 3 the same or 3 different ones?

do you know the sex of the babies or you just making a neutral one ???

Hi everyone! Does anyone know where I can get some nice "cheap" hairbrushes from? I would prefer plain with no pictures and ideally white or pastel colours but all I can find is the ones with pictures on.
Asda had some in mine yesterday and i also get mine from Toys R Us

Doubt she will be able to find out the sex as I think she will have to be closely monitored and they will probably arrive early  It will probably be a neutral cake. She hasn't actually said what colour so I presumed neutral but I will ask her tomorrow.

I have the packs of muslins from there, I have the same packs as the seller on ebay. Yours looks different though :rotfl: which is why I asked :) It looks very nice. I have never put anything through my cakes to keep them together, as like you say they stay together when wrapped anyway :)

With regards to the cake for a 1 year old, you could use pull ups like Nikki mentioned but these would be very expensive and i'm not sure how well they would roll? they are around £4.50 for 15 or 16. You could also use bigger nappies which would be cheaper Size 4 or 4+ would be about right, or take the safer option and go with 5's! For a topper you could use a little puzzle type toy which is age appropriate? or even a little drawing board. (something like this)

they are from ELC and are £4 but they sometimes have character ones.
Thanks Rusty havent got round to pricing up the pull-ups but i think your right i shall go for bigger nappies! Love the little doodle boards too:T

I tried to make a cake from pull ups but I have to say that when the pull ups were rolled, they looked a bit of a mess :( I agree with Rusty. Larger nappies would be better. I also find that patterned nappies don't look as good as plain nappies :)
