iIrlrip, Now I have seen the bibs you might be using, I would go for something pale grey and probably dress it with aqua and a touch of red ribbons. Mind you, I always plan my ribbon colours at beginning but nearly always change them when I have made the cake. For some reason, they don't go when it's made up. Think it's to do with a lot of white on nappies.
Will look out for toys for you.

rusty In that case I would be tempted to use 3 identical blankets as i would have thought it could prove difficult to colour match 3 similar ones, plus it is nice to have matching ones on the prams/baskets., or you could use hooded towels.
as for the clothes i wouldn't use the same but buy the multi packs where the colours are all exact but different individual design..
toys. if i used identical blankets i would complete with identical toys so the cake all blends in from bottom to the top. if that makes sense..

another way to do it would to use the same neutral colour but in different shades (if you know what i mean), so that each tier had the different shade and then finished off with the toys exact same as bottom

Oh I'm going now cos I'm confusing myself... sorry ignore my waffling

Have not read through all todays posts yet, but thanks to everyone on the hairbrush question. I think the cheapest "good "one were Asda at 6 for £10. Still more than I wanted to pay and they only come in depblue and green.

Rusty - I really envy you doing a triplet cake.(Fingers crossed for the little ones!) I would do different toys of the same kind or it might be easier sticking to teddies and having different shades. Also, I would only buy 3 of whatever they will use separately, for example, only 1 hairbrush set etc.
I have been looking at picnic plates just lately thinking I could use cheap ones instead of cake boards and there are some nice oval trays and sandwitch plates that you might be able to use instead.

Moonpenny IIRC the ebay ones worked out at about £17 for 12 sets of combs and brushes including postage. There were 4 pale blue, 4 pink and 4 white sets I think. I'll hunt them out for you again when I get a mo if you're interested? No good unless you need 12 sets though I guess.

How on earth do you all get your orders???? I have been doing this for a while now and not had one cake ordered it's really starting to get to me:(

I am building my website at the moment and I have flyers and Ive booked into a couple of fairs but I'm fed up!!

    Any advice??

Hi riggerz I don't have a website but I have done 3 local fayres and with me it's all word of mouth. I'm very lucky that I have a very wide circle of friends and once the ball started rolling that was that. I sold my first cake in May last year and I've sold almost triple figures. I always have people coming back too which helps. I'm not interested in selling online because I'm busy enough as it is and I only do it as a hobby. It may take a little time but you'll get there ;) Perhaps you need to concentrate on selling in your local area first as there is so much competition online these days. The fayres will be a good way to showcase your work.
You will find that the orders all seem to come in together which can be a bit frustrating.

Rusty I think the triplet cake would look good if you kept everything matching it would tie it all in nicely. I used the same bears on my twin cake and it pulled it together better.

My sales are all word of mouth, and those that go into a workplace always get me more orders...15 in the last two weeks, mostly for girls! But you do get quiet spells, then orders all come at once at once ....I've been making up some sample ones in different sizes today for a local gift store, so just going to get the cello out now & get wrapping!

Well I needed to do a 2 tier neutral cake for this week so I've had a go at a bath cake using the cuddlerobe. I'm not sure about it though, perhaps because it's different to what I normally do, what do you guys think? I think it might be the ducks on top but I haven't got anything else suitable to use instead so will have to go with them I think.

AAAgggghhhhh! WHat is going on with the pic upload! Have tried photobucket and imageshack and neither are working tonight! Has anyone else had problems or is it just me?
