Sorry im new to this but what are "ellies"

also where does everyone buy the nappies from? i really want to give one a go but they look quite pricey to make if mine turns out to be a disaster! Has nayone made them and aren't a natural at craft things?

Well I think this link is working but heaven only knows why it isn't just posting the picture now!

That looks lovely Becs :D towels look fantastic! a bargain find.

Vikki I am not natural at crafty things, the ellies are the elephant teddies most of us use on our cakes, here is a pic of mine, in all 3 colours.

Hi Vicky-Louise,

Ellies are cuddly toy elephants that asda do and don't sell! If you read through the past few pages you'll see it's a hot topic as some stores have loads, others have none, some sell them for £1.50 and some sell them for £2.50!

Nappies really you just buy whatever is on offer, sainsburys have 1/3 off baby stuff at the mo but it really varies. I haven't bought any since before Christmas as I bought hundreds at the Boots xmas shopping evenings.

I'm not at all crafty and have never done anything really before the nappy cakes but I just fancied having a go to do one for a friend and found it quite easy. Have a go, if you have any problems there's loads of us on here to ask for help but I think you'll surprise yourself at how easy it is.

Can anyone suggest a way to keep sock roses attached to a cake? I haven't wrapped them with the green floristy tape or anything but I could it that would help. I want to put them on a bottom layer of a cake on top of the nappies with some fake leaves a bit like Nicky321 did a few pages back. I'm worried that if I don't attach them to the cake somehow they will wobble and fall off once cellophaned.
I push a cotton bud into the sock rose and tuck the other end between the nappy folds....helps them stay in place!

Thanks Three Little Pigs! I don't know what is going on with me posting pics! Not doing anything different to usual but all it's giving me is the link for some weird reason! HAd thought it might be my browser as have had to change from explorer to firefox but tried it through both and neither worked!
• your bit was missing but when i used that link it appeared massive:eek:
so ive resized it now:rotfl:
hope you didnt mind me doing it

No that's fantastic thanks Three Little Pigs. I still can't figure out why it didn't work. All I did was copy the link for forum details from imageshack and pasted it but it just showed the link and not the pic.

Thanks Julie, I've wrapped it now and I'm feeling happier with it. I needed a neutral one for someone at work this week so will take it in tomorrow and see if she wants that one or if she'd rather one with fleece blanket and teddy etc.

Thanks Bella by the way I am now a convert of the tube method! It's still taking a bit of getting used to juggling it whilst taping the underneath but dh has been helping! Also my cakes are very tall-well the three tiers at least so didn't have too much at the top but I don't mind that myself. It has meant that I just had enough left on my 60cm roll to do the bath cake when I hadn't got enought to do it the other way so far less wasteful!
