I have been asked to do two local Fayre's. This is all new to me so any advice would be VERY welcome.

How much do you pay for a stall?

How many cakes should I take with me?

Should I do smaller items to sell on the day? Any recommendations PLEASE!

I will have to get some leaflets done as I presume people will take one (I hope) again how many?

    Any other advice?

    Thanks

I have just been asked about doing a pamper cake for a mum2be any ideas what i could put in it? I was thinking of a bath towel, hand towel & face flannel, maybe some lavender bubble bath, soaps, salts, bath bombs . Have any of you girls made one before and could you give me any ideas?

ALSO (lol) I'm going to make the baby sock cupcakes and was wondering what to package say 4 or 6 in? I was wanting clear top cake boxes or teh clear plastic tray type ones but cant decide which or where to buy from. Any ideas guys?

Have you got the mini or the larger one popkns and have you used it yet lol? lf you have what do you think of it?
Have you seen the tutorials on youtube:

Click here: YouTube - Bowdabra - Part 1
there are 4 tutorials in total.

Sorry in advance for the long post - just catching up!!!

Cumbrianshopaholic - I got the mini one - havent had a chance to use it yet - probably will tomorrow!! Thanks for the link to the tutorials - will have a look at those in a mo!!

Nicky123 - glad you're happy with your bowdabra can't wait to give mine a go!

On the subject of the coloured muslins I would really like some - so far I have only bought white ones as they were £7 for two packs of 6 (so approx 58p each) in Tescos so £7.99 in Mothercare for 6 (so £1.33each) is prob more than I'd like to spend. Will keep looking though.

Also on the subject of the soft toys this does seem to be a bit of a mare - I'd prefer to only use 'from birth' soft toys but just seem to be such a big percentage of the spend! I'm really not happy spending more than £3 and I'd like it to be even less really!! Will keep on the lookout and update if I see any good ones for good prices!! I did buy a couple of cuddly puppies yesterday that were £2 but they too were in the mothers day section and definitely not suitable from birth so will make sure I state that on the ingredients card - will put that they are for decoration only or something - but they will look lovely on neutral cakes I think!

NatBag - those sounded like fab bargains - really wish I had a Home Bargains and/or B&M (whatever that is!!) near me!!!

Was in Matalan today & couldn't see any mint green burping cloths for 50p!! They had the ones I bought the other week - sets of 3 for £2 - blue/white with blue stars, pink/white with pink hearts & Neutral with beigey rabbits on. Also the fleece blankets weren't 3for2!!! Bought a couple anyway - still pretty good prices at £3 each - would've preferred if they were 3for2 tho...

Angelkay - your cake looks lovely - I had been thinking that due to the 'soft toy' issue I was going to use baby booties or shoes as toppers for some of my cakes and as yours looks so lovely I definitely will - I've already bought some really cute little red ones for my 101 Dalmation cake & today I bought a pair of lilac ones to go with a lovely white/lilac bib I bought in Mr T's yesterday for 50p!!

Kezrus - well done on selling your first cake!! How exciting!!

Saveapenny - well done to you too on your two orders!! Also very exciting!

Becs - thanks for your wrapping photos!! can't wait to wrap my first one!

Irlrip - good luck with doing those fayres! when are they - are they quite soon? Very exciting!!

Well I'm planning on making up my first one that has been ordered! Not sure exactly what to do as she said she wanted a pink one and then proceeded to give me a bunny softtoy/comforter that is brown & cream! Will prob put a pink ribbon around its neck and see if that helps - any other suggestions? Its just that it is pretty much a tan colour which doesn't look the prettiest next to pink? will prob look okay when I get it all together!

That is brilliant and so neat.

Now realise that my cellophane is too wide at 80cm.

I recently bought some square cakeboards in a sale for 10p each. And they make wrapping in cello so much neater and easier.... I dont usually use them for the nappy cakes, I only use on the more expensive orders..
I do need them on the wedding cakes tho as they have a bottle in the centre
