Hope you are all well. I have seen some lovely cakes on here recently, keep up the good work ladies!
Popkins, try not to take the comment to heart. She's obviously not aware of the love and care that goes into them, never mind the contents. I think it's definitely worth the £25.
Anyway, Tesco's have 6pk white muslin squares, 2 packs for £7! Bit of bargain I think?
Also, please can someone help me find green silk type rose leaves?? Have been to Wilkos, no joy. No Hobbycraft, Dunelm or the likes near either. Anyone know where I can source them online??
Have made 3 cakes to order recently, will post me piccys later xox
Do you have a Poundland? Buy a bunch of flowers for £1 (obviously:D ) and cut off the leaves. Lots of leaves and flowers, bargain.0 -

hi im still new to this so i would love some feedback on these. tiaIn the end, we decide if we're remembered for what happened to us or for what we did with it0 -
Feeling a little deflated today as my friend was a little negative yesterday about the babycakes! She was the friend that I was going to give the pink one to for her friend who's just had a little girl. She thought it looked lovely in the picture but when she asked me how much it would be I said £25 and she said 'ooh I wouldn't spend that kind of money on one'! and also she then went onto say why have you used size 3 nappies - the baby won't be in them for AGES!! as her little boy who is about 16 months has only just gone into size 4! and she said pampers are much better than huggies!
Luckily another friend has emailed me today and thinks that they look lovely and would like me to make one up for her cousin who is expecting a little girl at the end of the month - I'd given her an idea of pricing and she doesn't seem to think its a problem.
Do you guys think that £25 was too much for my pink cake I posted on here? Its just that if I'd paid full price for the items in it they would have cost a total of £23.65 so I just rounded it up?
£25 is definitely not too much for your cake.0 -

I personally would have thought £25.00 was on the low side, but thats my personal opinion. I think people do not take into consideration the cost in nappies, clothes, blankets etc when they look at the cake. Like you say if you had paid full price for the items you are only making £1.35! does this cover your expenses eg fuel, time, etc
I think for every negative opinion you will have at least 5 - 10 positive!
Your cakes are lovely and definately worth their prices.0 -
Hi Popkins
Your cake is beautiful, so I wouldn’t take it to heart what your friend says. There will always be some people who hate this sort of thing but most people love them. I don’t think you are charging enough. I would charge at least £30.
Had a bad day today!
Ordered quite a few ribbon reels from 2 different companies. First delivery had 4 colours that were nothing like I had ordered and second delivery wasn’t even my order. So someone at the other end of the country has probably got mine.
I have had to mess about all day trying to sort it out. I wouldn’t mind but the delivery charges are extortionate, so they better not charge me again!

Threelittlepigs I think it might have been me that said about the ribbons. I always cut the ribbon first, make my bow and then stick it on.
Popkins - some people have a habit of putting other people down and it makes me soo angry when they are rude. Your cake is lovely and try not to let it get you down although I know it can be upsetting.
Oh dear Moonpenny what a disaster with the ribbons I hope you managed to get it sorted.Little Miss Chatterbox

Hi everyone, Seems I posted ALMOST the same post twice – stressed!!!!
I sometimes write my posts in “word” and paste as I get cut off on the forum, and had half written one when I had to dash off to house-sit while a carpet was being fitted. (if I’m not babysitting my grandson they get me for something else! LOL!!!)
Anyway, didn’t know I’d posted first one. Am cracking up!
Rusty – my first ribbon order was from Carnmeal Cottage and they add delivery for every item. I studied a few different ones but they had the best colours. That’s why I was so mad. They sent the colours I ordered but they are totally different to the pics.
For instance, Pink Gingham (looked rose) was Shocking Pink and a Satin ribbon called Latte (which looked coffee) was peach. Then this afternoon, my second order from Cloverdale Mice wasn’t my order at all. The invoice inside was for someone else.
Just had a thought about the Nappy debate. Would it be a good idea to include different Nappies in 1 cake so they can be tried out? Say, each tier a different one?
Maybe too much messing about for us buying supplies! Just a thought!!!0 -
Hi ladies!
Been away down in Somerset at the inlaws so not been on here much at all- just enough to read and thank.
Three little pigs, popkins and Jennied your cakes are gorgeous! :T Popkins your cake is worth more than £25 in my opinion too, so tell 'em to stick it! lol
Moonpenny- good idea about the different nappies. But like you said when you buy in bulk its usually only the Huggies that are on offer and my costco only sell Huggies.
I've been busy making my order up for the shop, done my swiss rolls, cakes, single rose buds and cappuccinos and just have the bouquets to make now...I'm getting there!

Hi Popkins
I would charge at least £30.
I was thinking more on the line of £30 - £35, but will people buy? that is the question. I have taken onboard advise from this board and try and keep my costs down, and therefore can keep my selling price down. At first my 3 tier contained 59 nappies, my last contained 30, so nearly halved the cost on nappies. Its mostly trial and error, seeing what works, more is not always better. Keep up the fabulous cakes and keep positive.0 -
