Girls whilst we all make absolutely beautiful cakes and spend ages putting time and effort into them we need to remember that there are people out there who can't afford to pay a lot, and also people who will go somewhere else because others are charging less. However we also sit and try to ponder how they made them so cheap, the answer is either really cheap rubbish items inside or really cheap nasty blankets etc which we don't use. We need to keep our max prices there and work the cakes around them.

For those who haven't been her as long as the rest .... When I first started out I used to charge £19 for my 3 tier (I never compromised on the quality of the items although they obviously weren't baby gap that that price!) and I have only just put up my prices from £19 - £25 which a lot of people still say is cheap! however I had a snoot around at cakes on the net and I am still undercutting most of the others. My Pooh cake however has just gone for £40 ... so I made a profit of £16 on that one purely cause she gave me the extra £5 thinking I was going to be out of pocket!

Just try and keep your costs down so you can make yourselves a little extra, it will never make you a millionaire but it will give you some extra pocket money :)

Some people will never like the cakes. Although in work I recieved ALOT of compliments about them, some friends havent been so supporting.

Youll remember me saying on here a while ago that a friend was going to be a godparent and I thought it was a good way to try and sell him a baby cake.

He told me it was ugly and why wouldnt anyone buy things like that. When I reminded him that it was my living room in the background (hinting that it as my creation so to calm down on the insults) and he responded 'yeah i know, just because you were the sucker to buy it you cant palm it off on me (other nasty words were included)'.

    So you cant please everyone!!

    What do you guys think?

Although I have cards made up Im considering doing a small run of leaflets with some photos on to show what I do. Maybe I could ask to put these up in some shop windows, or even send them to local nurseries?

    What you think?

I cant wait to see all the photos of the lovely stuff your making :D

Hiya Julie, I'll pop them on facebook soon. Most of the little gift stuff I only sell at the fairs as they help to cover the cost of the stall if i dont sell many cakes. The shop I am doing the orders for liked that stuff too so am making it up for them to sell there. I cant be bothered with ebay! If they do well I may consider putting them on my website. We'll see...I'm just playing around at the moment discovering new things.

Still cant think of a Fathers day gift??

my cappuccino: custard cream soaps and flannels lol!:D
