Not posted for a while as had a break in family babies :rotfl:
However neice had a little girl a few weeks ago so I started to collect bits, and was planning on final shopping and making this week, as kids back at school. On Sunday am my MIL phoned and said "is that nappy cake ready yet? They're coming to visit in 2 hours"
So a mad panic cake assembly - fortunately I had the basics ie nappies and blankets and toiletries, but no ribons or toppers, so I had to improvise.
Here's the result, be kind please 'cos it's already gone and there is nothing I can do about it :rotfl:
It has 2 packs nappies, 1 fluffy blanket, one cotton blanket, 3 bibs, 3 pairs socks, 3 pairs tights, Little me bath soak, lotion +cream
(teeny bits of ribbon and bow nicked off DD's friends birthday pressie)
Had also run out of cellophane so had to wrap in ordinary paper, which I was really unhappy about as it does not look nearly so impressive, next time I really will be more organised!
btw I think those of you who do this 'professionally' are amazing, the mess and panic I caused just making this one was horrendous, I can't imagine doing more than one a month, well done :T0 -
Thanks Moonpenny I'm going to pop into HB today and have a nose about and hope I can come up with something. I need to get it wrapped today so i can take it into work tonight.
I am feeling better now thanks just dreading going back into work and it doesn't help that my hubby is off to France to watch the rugby. Its a mans world eh????
No more Ellies in my local Asda either gutted so I am now on the hunt for more soft toys. I'm also hoping I can get some more blankets today as I am now done to my last 2 .
Minimoneyme your cake is lovely especially since you had such short notice. Well done :TLittle Miss Chatterbox

I might have an order and it's to be ready on Sunday :eek::eek: Just waiting to find out.
I've only made two and they were for friends so I have no stock of anything (except cellophane)
I don't usually work on a Friday but I'm doing all week this week as I have a big meeting so I'm going to be rushing to Primark in my lunch hour. Problem is Primark is in a different town to Asda and Tesco's is in another town  I'm going to get some nappies and blankets at lunchtime and have ordered some coloured muslins from ebay. Just need to get some stuff.. lol
I've tried working out how much to charge but I put different stuff in them. Eeek.

Thanks Rusty!! Do you find Parcels2go reliable? Also where do you buy boxes from...sorry for all the q's, I'm such a novice to all this!
Shelley, I wish I could get local orders but most of the interest i've had has been from FB friends who live nowhere near me...I am hoping word will spread!!"There are no pockets in a shroud..."0 -
Hi BB I have only had 2 problems with parcel2go where they have delivered it to the wrong address, but was eventually sorted and returned to me, plus I got credits added to my account etc etc, however apart from that I use them a hell of a lot for various different things and they are reliable and by far the cheapest.
Boxes I bought from a company called defendapak ... do a search for them and they do have a website (haven't got the link to hand sorry)Raising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
Thanks all, for input on my Winnie Pooh cake.
Went to town today to get Eeyore from Wilcos and they have all gone. I thought I had seen some in Tesco and they had all gone. Am really stuck now as the cake needed to be pink. (Not really a Winnie Pooh cake is it?) Managed to get some shoes from Asda but couldn’t find a dress. (Will be mid – late summer for 3-6 mths) and shops havn’t got stock in yet. Would be no problem with a top and leggings but she wants frilly knickers with it. It’s getting too expensive!
Have you tried home bargains? my local had tons of ladybird clothes and disney clothes. All winnie the poo, and tigger.:)Mummy to 2 wonderful boysWant to be fit for 30 not fat at 30but i want never gets!!!0 -

I dunno about you lot, but I have found the wrapping with cellophane the hardest part of the whole nappycake making. I found the photo Rusty posted helpful but now I have just found a youtube vid on wrapping a gift basket, which is basically the same principle for cakes.

Hope this helps, it certainly did me!"There are no pockets in a shroud..."0 -
BB I think a lot of it is practice, my first attempt was absolutely shocking, I ripped it all off and started again :rotfl: but now I would like to think I am up there with the cello godesses of the forum :rotfl:
The picture I posted was a sketch Rainmac kindly posted for people on the old finished baskets thread, I have always saved the link as she did it brilliantly and it helped me aswell as hundreds of othersRaising kids is like being held hostage by midget terrorists0 -
I think I can safely say there is NO love lost between cellophane and I. It's getting to the hatred stage now pmsl. I hope that practice will make me less impatient with it. It takes so damn long to get right!
I have used that pic (godsend!!) that Rainmac did as a guide and I think the youtube vids helps see it in practice."There are no pockets in a shroud..."0
