Bargainbabe the cello does get easier. I place the cake in the middle of the cello measure it heightwise then gather at the top with a elastic band. i then sellotape the sides before sellotaping it underneath the base. I manage to wrap 3 tiers alone now too without hubby's assistance.

Well I'm gutted I went to HB today and they only had 3 orange blankets and 1 white on display. I picked up 1 white and 1 orange, came home and cannot find them. I think I dropped them whilst I was shopping:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:. I'm going to have to ring the shops and retrace my steps.

I looked everywhere today for a base for the large cake I just made and ended up buying a square 10 inch cake board from Asda for 52p. Its not big enough but it does hold the essentials in ;)

Moonpenny in HB today they did have my 1st eeyore but it might be a bit big!!

Shelley you are not having a good day are you!!!

The cake board should be fine once it is all wrapped in cello, I don't use boards now and mine are all ok :)

I couldn't open JulieH's either so thanks for re-hosting them Rusty.

I watched the cello wrap video and it's similar to how I do mine, I unroll it and place the cake then measure up and gather it on the top with an elastic band, then I tie the ribbon round and sellotape the sides.

I'd like to ask about ribbon.. I know some of you buy them on ebay but do you have any recommended sellers you use? Also do you use the soft satin ribbons or the harder florist ribbon or a mixture of both. I was thinking of using the hard florist ribbon as the wide base and then a soft satin one of a different colour on top of that.

    Thanks

Shelley, I only have me, myself and I to wrap these cakes, so I need all the help I can muster hahax

aw bless ya cottons, no need to apologise hon. My hubby is in the army and is away this week so he's not on hand to help...(or hear my cussing, swearing and general rants about cello hahaha) Maybe it's a good thing really as it means I get practice.

Just got my mom to buy me some bobbly blankets as I haven't got ANY bargain shops near me. I think they look lush in nappycakes :)
