Thanks, I hope so, I could do with a bit of luck at the moment ..... having no luck finding a job !!!

    Oh dear - that's awful.

I've been there though - it's so soul destroying at times but try and stay positive. Anyway, when your cake business takes off you will laugh looking back at now - if that makes sense!

Hobby craft sell florist ribbon i dont know how much

I did get some from there but it's about the same prices as my local craft shop and I have to persuade (drag kicking and screaming) my husband to drive me there on the weekend.

Oh, if only Boots sold it and I could buy it with points :D

    Hi everyone,

I've had a n email from a BBC production assistant to say the cake got there ok and the Evan's are very grateful. I'm hoping he gives Nappy cakes a mention, not specifically mine because don't think I could cope with demand! I just thought he might discuss them in general and get a bit more publicity for everyone doing them!

Juju11 depends on how much you want to order but could try www.flowerexperts.com they sell ribbons, cello and also cards. They aren't cheap for delivery at £7.50 but I guess I would spend more than half of that getting to my nearest wholesaler. They also sell fresh cut flowers so you could see if you have anyone else that would want to order something and split the delivery charge.

Irlip I know what you mean about costings it is a nightmare! My 3 tiers cost me about £25 so I sell to friends for £30 and others at £35. My toys cost me £4.84 but I don't mind that as I think they add more than that to the value of the cake as they retail at £9.

I recently bought a 100 mtr roll of florist ribbon from a fancy dress/party shop. I'm sure I paid £3.20 for it ...... but obviously didn't have to pay any postage charges!!
    Juju11, I've just remembered the name .....

I have used Rays Florist in the past, £1.95 for 100 yards
    https://www.raysflorist.co.uk/viewbasket.asp

Delivery charges for florist sundries start at £1.49
    https://www.raysflorist.co.uk/695/delivery_charges.html#sundries_delivery

I had 3 reels of florist ribbon delivered to spain, and they only charged me £5 postage, so I'd expect their delivery charge would be very reasonable.

    Thank you girls :D
Popkins the elephant is from Asda only £1.50 at mo although my local Asda is now sold out.
Becs what a fab idea - keep tuned into the radio you might get famous!!!! Wish I had the guts to do something like that. If I had used my noggin i could have sent one to Charlotte Church she only lives 5 miles away ;)

Just picked up your message and as it so happened I was in Asda today and saw the ellies for £1.50 - they only had the cream ones though - couldn't resist buying a couple!! also bought some bibs and baby hats reduced half price - crazy though as I have no-one to do nappy cakes for!!! Will have to make them just for fun then I guess - just gotta find blankets/fleeces for not too many pennies!

Its not too late to send one to Charlotte Church - I think you should!!!

    Hi everyone

Not been on here for quite some time and am laid up with flu at moment.

Everyone’s cakes are looking fab, and Shelley, I really like yours with the bib on the outside.
Although I still like putting my sleepsuits on the outside, its getting more and more complicated to find the right ones. (I have this thing where I have to match pictures up on blankets etc, and it’s driving me mad) Also, I still think something is missing but don’t want to put anything else on outside.

Elephants at my Asda are still £3. Have sent them an email!

Becs, Good for you on your stroke of inspiration . Hope you get a mention from Chris Evans.

CndyB, What a stroke of luck. Hope you get some good feedback with your leaflets.. I too am looking for work but no success. (Retail!!!!)

Bought some gorgeous sets of sleepsuits in the local Next Discount shop and all the girls in there wanted me to take in photos of cakes (once I’d explained what they were! LOL) Trouble is, manageress wanted to come to an arrangement with the baby gear!!!!! Not sure about that, as the profit margins are small anyway.

    Speak later!

    Hi JuJu 11

I have spent the last few days looking at ribbon sites and comparing prices. There is no easy way, you just have to write a list of what you want and then study the different sites. Some inc vat in prices, others don’t. Same with delivery – it is all different. Some sites only sell ribbon by the mt when you might want whole rolls.

Anyway, here is a few and Carnmeal seemed to come out cheaper on most things though didn’t always have the best colours etc.

    www.flowerhour.co.uk

    www.carnmealcottage.co.uk

    www.cloverdalemice.co.uk

    www.ribbonmad.co.uk

    www.craftyribbons.com

Happy researching!! I hate it!!!!

Elephants at my Asda are still £3. Have sent them an email!
    Hi Moonpenny,
I have two local Asda stores near me and both are still advertising the elephants at £3. It was only at the till that I got charged £1.50. So maybe it's worth asking.
Both stores are now running low on elephants ..... I hope they will be re-stocking, or at least going to get something as cute in.
Maybe as Easter is approaching, we might get some ducks or rabbits.
Being as lrlrip won't give me her DUCK !!!! ;)
