    Girls your cakes look amazing.

Bellag your second cake is soo different I really like it. Very clever way you did the top.

    Well done both :T:T

Thanks Shelley. My friend didnt want a teddy on top just booties...I think it looks a bot odd without a teddy of some sort so did my best with the booties and socks! Not sure the ribbon looks ver good though and I just cannot tie bows..I may give up on them in future.

Irlirip, Ihave been using 80mm wide cello but I have to cut 20 off first. Can manage to get 60mm in plain but not dotty one I like. (That’s for 12 inch board)
Love your pink cake. The toy is gorgeous!!! Love cakes that look warm and soft. Brilliant!

Angelkay, your cake looks gorgeous wrapped to go. You should be proud, it is lovely.

Bellag I love the dog on your cake. It looks lovely. Your right about me being a night owl, I was just about to go to bed last night and I got it into my head to practice some sock flowers (got all these designs in my head!) and 2 hours later I was still at it.
Still need more practice I’m afraid, unlike yours!!! I too have bought a load of shoes in last few wks (sales) and am not quite sure what to do with them now.

All this talk of ribbons – I went through everything I have bought, prices etc, and the item that stood out most that I need to cut down on was ribbons. I was shocked at how it adds up.

    Fantastic cakes everyone :T

I just adore your pink dog lrlrip ..... still wanting that duck too. Where, where, where do you find them?

I bought a some fleece blankets today from HB's, 99p each. I haven't used those ones before but at that price, thought it would be worth a try (an extra £2 profit).
100 x 75cms, it has some beautiful butterfly embroidery on the pink one.

  • Hi

I'm a lurker so I apologise if this isnt the right information for this thread !!

I am desperate to embark on this as a new venture but unfortunately I dont work ( well, self employed, but I dont meet anyone !) I dont have any pregnant relatives, and I dont have any friends other than family so this could fail before it begins !!

I have tried to contact large companies and offered a free nappy cake for anyone going on maternity leave this month but they arent interested !! Suspicious of a freebie I think !

I approached a pregnant lady at the doctors surgery to talk to her but after I spent 4 minutes gushing about her imminent arrival I discovered she had a thryoid problem and wasnt actually pregnant ( story of my life - foot in mouth !)

Anyway, I am still determined !

On to the point of this post .....

Matalan have 3 burping cloths in green, pink and off white reduced to 49p for the 3.

    Thanks

    Wow fantastic cakes everyone!

Irlip you use the same teddies as me ;)

Bella lovely! I love the little dress on the one!

Well I took a nappy cake to work this evening as someone asked if they could see one, the amount of comments I have had is unreal, I have 3 people take my phone number and said they will be in touch (who knows if they will but it sounded positive) and one bloke is calling me this week once he has arranged 2 x whip a rounds at work! so thats 2 orders tonight! woohoo!

    Hi everyone,

Irlip I love your single tier, it's so sweet.

Angelkay your friend will love that I'm sure, it's really good.

Bella, I think they're fabulous as usual! Even without a teddy I think it looks perfect, your's always look different and intersting!

Rusty congrats on the orders, I do most of mine through work and do find the orders come in batches like that. Can be quiet for ages then one order and others see it.

Moneymakestheworldgoround, I'd be careful about relying on this as an income,it's very difficult. I think RF or possibly Bellag have probably sold the most out of us and I'm sure they would both say it's still a hobby and good for a little bit extra but not really enough money to be made out of it as a sole income.

Moneymakestheworldgoround, I have now been making nappy cakes for 4 years and i do well on it but but like becs says its not a sole income and now there are more and more people making them so its getting harder and harder when i started out i was the only one in miles making them but there is 2 more in my area now and even more out of my area but still i would say give it a go.

Stunning cakes everyone i got some orders to do this week i will try and get some photos of them on here

Thanks Becs, I wasn't planning on pushing things at the min with the nappy cakes as I have so many other ventures going on! however I'll not refuse things.

Moneymakestheworldgoround, I agree with what Becs says, this kind of thing will never be any good for a sole income, to make enough money for that you would need to charge a lot per cake to make enough profit and personally you can buy a cake just as good at a fraction of the cost!
