Irlip your cake is lovely. How did you get on with the cellophane? :D

Any advice ot the easiest way to get the cellophane on? how much do you fold underneath?

I have left the plastic covering on the cake board so it can be used and I was just going to stick double sided tape to that. I had a practice and it was a mess:o

Fab cakes everyone, they all look gorgeous. Angelkay I think Rusty is right about the ribbon, It is more expensive buying by the metre but unless you are going to be using alot it's often the easiest way.

Julie, I can't really help on the leaflets as I kind of did the basics of mine myself then passed it through to my db who's in marketing. He jazzed it up and reworded some of it then sent it to my mum for her to print out at her shop as she has a professional printer.

Wow Bellag! Everyone on here leads such busy lives. Makes you wonder how we have time to do “normal “ things. About the shop – never say “never” LOL

Angelkay, your cake looks fantastic with the pink ribbon. The new blanket works a treat. I think you don’t need the bootees, but they look nice anyway.

CandyB, I just love your blue cake. Looks really soft and warm. I know what you mean about the blankets. I find them a bit clumsy to work with as they are a bit bigger. I really like fleece blankets best.

Irlrip – I find it hard putting cello on too.
I take mine underneath the whole thing (sit cake in the middle of the length) so I have a back and front and loosely wrap with a band at top.( to come back to later).
I straighten each side up (where it joins) and fold the side bottom bits under cake board and tape (To round it off)
Then, you can straighten top up properly and secure. Hope that makes sense!
Some cake makers have started putting the cello around rather than under the cake but, as people tend to pick them up from the top, I get worried the whole thing will crash to the floor. It’s more expensive this way (I use nearly 2 mtrs) but I know it’s secure.

Irlrip - I agree with Moonpenny about the cello thats the way I do it and it does get easier with practice. I much rather it wrapped around the cake because you know that it is secure that way.

Julie - I did my leaflets myself too and just got hubby to print them off at work on regular A4 paper...they do the job! I agree with Rusty that it is the cheapest method and you dont need to commit to loads being printed off and then having to stick to that particular design. I am free to change the pics, prices and ingredients whenever I want if you know what I mean?

Moonpenny- you are such a night owl like me lol!

Hey did anyone manage to get any bargains from Boots today? I stayed up till 1am waiting for the 75% off and then fell asleep but managed to save everything in my basket and checkout online this morning at 8.45am. Then not satisfied with that alone I dragged the boys to my local Boots and spent all those points i had collected during those shopping evenings. I even treated myself to something which is rare!

    B xx

Hi Moonpenny, I will definately be using the fleece ones in future. Luckily, the lady was well pleased with it, so hopefully she will show a few more people and maybe I could get another order from it (just like I got this one).
Oh well, must dash, going to check out some ribbons, so fed up using the same ones now ...... just my luck that the fab shop that was floor to ceiling with ribbons has closed, and just before I came back from Spain too. How I would of loved that closing down sale !!!

I finally managed to get some of the elephants from Asda (at long last).
I can't believe how well they sit on the top - I have always used teddy's that are a bit bigger.

I am DESPERATE for these, and have been to 5 different Asda around the country and still cant find them :(

    Hi Everyone
I'm sorry to be a pain again I'm just wondering if there is a certain way to do a 1 tier cake! I've got my fleece blanket and the a round cake board but every time I try and get it to go together it doesn't look good, any advice would really be appreciated!

AngelKay and Candy you should be so proud of your cakes!

I am no expert having only finished one cake but I actually found it much easier to make a 1 tier. I made mine on a 10" cake board and it needed quite a few things plus a bigger toy to make it look ok. I still feel it need as bit of height but maybe I am being too fussy.

Irlrip it was your cake that gave me the idea and I hope you don't mind but I printed the page out to take shopping with me!! I've shown a few people in work and they've all said how lovely it is! I think I'll have a play around over the weekend and see if I can come up with something!
Thanks again for you help and inspiration! :j
