Bella I would personally do it in a church hall, these are generally free and you could ask for a minimum of £10 per stall with the option for bigger donations and all your fees from the stall money could be donated to the church. I think this is why they are generally free so you can offer donations if that makes sense.

Have you a local collage that could send you some of there girls that are doing a beauty therapist course or any that could do a massage we got are collage to come alone and we asked £5.00 for every treatment that they did and they had 50p out of that as they are not allowed to charge for what they do.

Most collages will jump as to be able to come as the girls need to do somemany treatments a year to pass so helps them out big time

We had it on a Thursday evening in the school hall with the collage girls in 2 of the class rooms i think almost all of the mums come that evening.

We did give a glass of wine or a glass of oj 2 everyone that came in as you cant sell wine on the night (or we couldnt)

I would say ask stall holders for £10.00 (or what ever you want)as if you say 10% or 20% some will say they didnt sell much trust me it does happen. I would say i wouldnt ask to much for a stall with the way money is if they dont sell anything its not to much of a loss for them and if you did do anything else they may still give it another go

We did put on snacks just a few bits

    Yes do a raffle

Thanks Julie and Rusty. Yeh £10-12 sounds good. Our local church do charge for the hall and also dont allow alcohol on the premises even if not selling! Thats why i was thinking of the pub.

I was actually thinking of inviting the girls from the beauty college (trafford) and from the local salons too so thanks for reminding me.
For the raffle i could ask each stall holder for a dontation maybe- i know i have been asked for that myself in the past- so i have given a money off voucher for a baby cake lol. What do you think?

In terms of advertising..how have you gone about that? I cant afford to spend much on that side of things but then again it is crucial!

Well I have finished my first cake.

It was not as easy as I first imagined. I put the ribbon with double sided tape and it fell off just as I was about to take the photo, so the ribbon is on with a peg lol. I have just been out and bought a glue gun.

I am now off to try and put cellophane round it.

  • hello everyone, havent posted for few months or made any nappycakes as baby cody was getting so unsettled all i did was pace the floor. i thought it was colic, docs then said it was reflux and paed finally said its milk intol. anyway has been on hypo milk for about a month and is a different baby just doesnt sleep well, still cant have it all i suppose. have stocked up today and intend to get the rest of the stuff down from the loft tomorrow and start making again, cant wait. funny thing though i had a very weird dream last night! lack of sleep and thinking of this thread and nappycakes but veryone on here that sells there cakes all started a very unique business venture together even though we had never met and live all over the country. we basically sold our cakes as usual but all used the same business name, we all put a % of our profits aside for the business which eventually grew bigger than richard bransons empire in the end we had nappycake shops worldwide all starting from this thread! was a very nice dream! wonder if it could work. will post some pics when ive made my new ones xxx

Your cake is fantastic! Really gorgeous, well done.

    Shelley,

I hope things went ok for you, people really underestimate the affect our pets have on us. My mum lost our border collie on boxing day and we spent 6 hours searching the scottish hills and had to give up when it got dark, I was beside myself and she's my dh's dog so I've only had her for 3 years. Thankfully she found her way to a very nice lady who reported her as found to the police but those 6 hours were hell.:grouphug:

I have only found this thread!
I have had many positive comments from the nappy cakes i make, they are always well received. These ones posted are beautiful!
Every one I have sold has brought another order, i use my website for people to see my work, instead of sending them photos and prices. I have photo albumns that I use for my potential customers, once they have shown an interest.
    Good luck!
    Loving the sunny days!
