Nappy Cakes
Comments

Hi All
Having read through all your posts and seeing your lovely cakes made, I took the plunge and made my friends two daughters, a nappy cake each. One had a boy and the other is expecting a girl. They were both thrilled with their cakes, and had never seen anything like it before.
Below are just a couple of photos taken with a mobile, so not really good quality.
I just wanted to post to say thank you to you all for giving me the inspiration to make the cakes in the first place.
Girl one!!0 -
So whos going to make a nappy cake for the new mum thats been on the news she as just had a baby at the nice age of 70
My 72 year old auntie has just visited, and the thought of her having her own 2 year old is just un-imaginable.
That is unreal ...... I'll have to watch the news in a mo.A creative mess is better than tidy idleness0 -
goldie090, lovely cakes, well done :T :T :T
I can't believe they are your 1st one's.
It's been very quiet on here lately, are you all snowed under with orders at the mo, or like me, no orders lately :mad:A creative mess is better than tidy idleness0 -
Oh they are beautiful, well done! :T
I made a tag for mine too, and we must have both used MS Word as I have used that same piece of clip art too - great minds! LOL! :rotfl:
Finished mine tonight, and it does look better for swapping the hooded towel and blanket round. Bit annoyed that the ribbon I ordered is more aqua blue and not royal blue as it looked online, and I think I could do with some curling ribbon to finish it off, but anyway, here it is, bare and wrapped:0 -
Meant to add, here's the list of what I used (probably seems a bit generous compared to those made to order, but it's for a gift for a family member so I don't mind!)
· 31 Huggies Newborn size 2 (7-13lb) nappies
· 3 pairs of baby socks (size 0- 2.5) (Home Bargains)
· 1 baby romper suit & hat (0-3 months) (Asda)
· 5 baby popper vests (3-6 months) (Asda)
· 2 muslin cloths (Asda)
· 1 hooded towel & wash cloth (Home Bargains)
· 1 fleece pram blanket (Home Bargains)
· 1 TY newborn soft toy (suitable from birth) (Home Bargains)
· 1 bottle of Johnson’s baby powder
· 1 bar of Johnson’s baby soap

Hi everyone! Nice to see some pictures on here again!
Goldie090 - Your cakes are absolutely gorgeous! Really Well done, especially as they are your first - and 4 tiers at that. Can I ask you where you got your teddy from on the pink one? Iv'e been looking for a "normal colour teddy and can't find any.
Natbag - your cake looks lovely. You were right to change the blanket around. I think the ribbon colour looks good. I had a similar problem with my pink one. The sleepsuit I used was a candy pink but the toy looked more of a peachy pink, but like yours, when it's all put together you don't notice.0 -
My mums friend is having a baby and im sooooo tempted to make a one tier nappy cake and put a small teddy on top
have already bought her some bibs and a couple of designer hats (In a sale though)
And im thinking a nappy cake would bulk those out nicely?
You reckon I could make a cake with one pack of nappies??
will read the whole thread through by the weekendLove is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together0 -
HI PHUNKLES. for one tier i use 30 nappies or fo the we small cupcake ones, 14 nappies so u should not have a problem with one packlove you lots like jelly tots0
-
bellag u posted a pic of the back of your cake while ago but i still cant get the edges so neat! please describe how to do them again!love you lots like jelly tots0

Many thanks for your positive feedback on the cakes. Since making these I have 3 ordered for others now, 2 neutral and one blue.
Moonpenny - the teddy on the pink cake has It's a girl written on one of the feet, and I got it off ebay for about £3.0
