Popped into our local Dunelm today and they had lots of the fleece blankets at £1.99 so maybe they're not going to stop doing them.
Been working on the cakes today, DH's comments were "You are silly, you've left the cakes in the spare room and now they're breeding like rabbits!" Oh to have such a simple sense of humour! Bless him!

Becs - they are looking fantastic!- you're right the toys make all the difference! The three tier is just so perfect and I could just picture it in John Lewis!

    Thanks for your message.

Hmmm saw a sign today advertising a craft fair at our local national trust historic house, and it reminded me that they do craft/food fairs quite often.

Is this what you guys sell at? And would it be a better shot than selling at a school fair??

    Thanks Bellag,

High praise indeed coming from yourself! They always look a bit rough before the ribbon goes on. I've started doing the ribbon in a more contemporary way as on the 3 tier now. Nice and clean which I like and also a very cheap way of doing it!

    Kr15snw,

I'm doing my first couple of fayres in a couple of weeks. The first one is a Christmas Gift Fayre in a hall and the second one is a special Christmas shopping day in aid of a local hospice aimed at "Ladies who lunch!" So it will be interesting to see if there is a noticeable difference between the two!

Sorry if this has already been posted, havnt read the last few pages. Just been on marks and spencers website and they have small spencer bears with ties reduced to £2.50 from £5, they are also on 3 for 2. The medium bear is also on offer. Hope this can help someone. Also there is a 15% off code kicking about.

Becs - your cakes look fantastic. Like the way you have done the bows, very neat and like you say look more expensive.

I swirl my nappies too but am having problems with the top tier. It doesn’t work so well with just a few nappies and I don’t like the top tier to be too small as it looks out of proportion. At the moment, I am mixing the two styles and rolling the top tier till I come up with something better.

Wish there was a Dunelm near me!!!!

Has anyone got their eye on anything “cakeified” just waiting for the sales to start after xmas?

    Thanks Moonpenny,

I'm going to be rolling my 3 tiers still because I will be having clothing in them so can't do it swirling. My single and 2 tiers won't have clothing in them so easier to do.
I tried the bows this way because I'd run out of organza ribbon that I would have usually put on top and I liked it. Also means only have to use cheap florist ribbon now which I have loads of from my floristry days! Someone at work gave me the little cream roses and asked if I could use them and I think they finish it off. Got a few hundred of those so they'll last a while.

    Thanks Julie,

Not quite there yet but will look good I think when ribbon is on and teddies stuck on! All a bit wonky at the mo as just balanced, as lovely as Peter Rabbit is he's not very stable on his bum!
  • Becs your cakes are looking fab. I love the Santa and Snowman too very festive. I'm about to order some of these to make up for the 2 fetes I've got coming up.

I've been busy tonight making this hippo cake:

I really need to get some supplies in though as I'm running really short at mo x
