We dont have the elephants no:( Literally we have one small aisle of baby stuff with the pink bunny and the teddy with a blue t shirt. Are the elephants in the baby aisle?

Today Im having a proper hunt!! Going to go sainsburys, matalan, tesco and asda. Going to see what the selection is like at the 1st 3 and then get the rest from asda :) Hoping matalan has those cheap towels!

    Hi Kr15snw,

No they're in the toy aisle with other soft toys. The asda I found them in is quite a big on and they had a good selection. The elephants were £3 each or 2 for £5. Good Luck!

Shelley, Hope you had a lovely day.

Thanks Becs I did have a fab day didn't do much but had lots of people visiting and lots of lovely pressies.
Getting ready and packing now to go to Gretna Green tomorrow for my cousin's wedding. So at moment my house is manic 3 children under 6 (my niece is staying with us) and me and hubs trying to get organised !!!
Got to take to the dog to the kennel soon and I am dreading it - she was sent home after 1 night last time they couldn't handle her at all   and the guy who run it was a police dog handler !!!!!! So i'm trying a different kennel this time.
Really looking forward to the wedding though just dreading the journey up.

All up to date with my nappy cake orders now and just waiting for one to be picked up today.

Probably won't have chance to come on here later so see you all later in the week :D

Ended up getting some blue bears from Tesco. £4 each which is alot for me, but they are very nice and finish the cake off :)

I also got some large johnsons talc (£1 each) to put in the middle of my 3 teir cakes instead of wine. People can request wine, but at extra cost!!

Much happier with my cake now, just need to wait for my blue ribbon to come so I can finish it off. Am going to do my 2 teir one tonight though, which will then just need finishing off with ribbon as well :)

Apologies for double post, been busy nappy caking tonight!

Both cakes need blue ribbon over the white to finish them off but then thats pretty much it.

    Cake one...

    Cake one includes:

    25 nappies
    1 hooded towel
    2 suits
    2 bibs
    1 muslin cloth
    1 bottle of wine
    2 baby bath
    1 toy
    1 pair of booties
    2 pair of socks

It cost me £23.60 to make and Im yet to add ribbon and wrapping into the cost. I think this would be about £3 which is £26.60 total. Now the girl Im making it for is paying £30 for it (shes a good friend). Do you think I could sell this for £35 to everyone else, or is that asking too much?

    Cake 2...

    Now this cake includes...

    20 nappies
    1 hooded towel
    2 suits
    1 bib
    1 baby bottle
    1 baby bath
    1 toy
    1 pair of socks

Including wrapping this cost me £17.71 and its for another friend so shes paying £20. Again do you think this could be marked up to £25 for general sales?

    What do you reckon?

Today I went to IKEA in Leeds - they had baby blue large fleece blankets for £1.60ish - I only bought one as OH is abit sceptical as I've only actually sold one and he doesn't want me spending loads on them!

    Hi,

Kr15snw, the cakes look great, I like the blue johnsons bottles matching your scheme. I definately think you could increase your sale price. My 3 tiers usually cost appx £20-£22 and I sell them for £33.

I've finished the one for my friend and am really chuffed with it! Alot brighter than my usual schemes but then so is my friend! Can't wait for her to have the baby now, was due last tuesday! Here it is finished and ready for wrapping (when I get a bigger board!) It is Lemon for the bottom and middle layers which doesn't show up very well in the pics and white on the top.

  • Hi,

I have just finished reading the whole thread, wow what lovely cakes you have all made. I just wanted to ask you guys 3 questions if I may!!

    1) Where is the best (cheapest) place to buy the polka dot and 'its a boy/girl' ribbon from? I have been looking at prices on internet and my head is whirling!!:rotfl:
    2) Alot of you seem to use the size 2 or 3 nappies but i have a pack of size 1 (new baby) pampers that I would like to use up, would they be ok or too small?
    3) Do you open the nappy and roll along entire length or roll it when its closed?

    FOR HELPING!!! xx

    Hi Refund Queen,

    Welcome to the forum!
I'm not sure on the ribbon as haven't used those myself. I believe some buy from ebay. Any ribbon that I have bought I get from www.carnmeal.com.
I've only ever used size 2 or 3 and having no children yet couldn't tell you whether size 1 would be too small.
I open out the nappy and then roll up from the narrower end, don't open out the sides though just unfold the nappy if you knwo what I mean!
