thanks all for your comments on my creamcake. The florist ribbon I used is not cream or yellow, it's called vanilla, so was unsure about that! Though you can't see it very well, the gingham is brown. (I thought it looked purple in the photo)

Paddingtondoo - I put ribbon round and then do bows separately and hot glue on.

Bellag - I know what you mean about big bow at bottom (something missing!)
but I seem to be putting bows on everything and as it is for a boy, didn't want too "frilly". Will have a think!!!

Hope you sell loads at the fair next weekend - we're all rooting for you.

    Quick note about toys

M&S are doing a 3 for 2 on all toys at moment as well as Boots. I got 3 ducks for £10. More than I wanted to pay really but I like them

Keep an eye out for card shops reducing toys . Ages ago I got reduced stuff from £7 to £2.

Rusty, to add to your list – Matalan – pk of 5 bibs £2 in pink, blue, and yellow. Burp cloths 3 for £2 in Pink, Blue and Cream mix. Blankets, £3 and dearer.
  • Moonpenny, I think your neutral cake is gorgeous!!!

Thanks Chatty, Shelley and Rusty for your advice on the stall. I'm all a bit stressed out now- got sooo much to sort and do before next weekend and i've other stuff going on at the moment too which doesnt help! arghhh!Think I'll make and wrap one of all my cakes and a couple more of the unisex ones and Christmas ones. I havent even got a sign for my stall yet!Shelley- where did you get your sign on the back ofm your marquee from? I am guessing that if i get one done i can either stick on the wall behind me or if that isnt allowed i can pin it to the table cloth?I've ordered some card stands from ebay to display prices and ingredients and need to get some postcard size flyers printed off. Ordered a table cloth too which is huge to cover the whole table to the floor. i can hide a few extra cakes under it. Can you think of anything else i may need?B x

I bought my sign from Ebay and the service was brilliant. I emailed him what I happened and within 2 hrs he emailed me back with the proof. Sorry I can't remember who it was at mo so I'll get back to you. It cost about £24 but I paid about £14 because I had an Ebay voucher.:D

  • hey everyone!!!
oh its so exciting reading all these posts, theres new nappy cakes to drool over, getting ready for craft fairs!! and just general good advice!!!

so yesterday was a shopping day!! trailed all over the place and got loads of supplies!!! i made a tester nappy cake last night....

    inside it has
    -one pink muslin cloth
    -one pink bodysuit
    -1 bottle
    -1 pair of socks
    -23 nappies
-1 pair of booties sitting on top at the moment

total cost £7.30 for two tier
no idea what the mark up price would be...but needs to be at least this to break even..and im assuming the florist will want a cut too!

im having real difficulty finding some nice soft toys to put on top...thats why teh booties are sitting on top at the moment...because i just cant find any that im happy enough to spend the extra money on but also look the part!!! i dont want to spend £3 for a toy that looks like it cost less than £3!!! cos thats all i could find..then ones that DO look lovely cost too much!! lol!
any ideas? i'll post a picture later!!

    vinaka!!

  • I have been getting some lovely toys from tesco recently...little pink bunnies and blue teddies..really soft and suitable from birth, they are £4 each though so not cheap but I use mocs with my shopping so I tell myself the toys are my "free items"...the poundland have some lovely xmas soft toys at the mo but check that they are suitable from birth..I also got 2 from poundstretcher..£1.29 each these are quite cute...will see if |I can post some pics later...for my ingredients list I print a word document with a blue cream or pink background, with the list of ingredients typed on then cut it out and stick it onto a new baby tag and hang this from the cake with ribbon
  • hey chazzy thanks for that!! YESS i know the ones you mean from tescos!!! i thought they were just adorable!!! i think i might try it on two, but it just adds £4.00 to budget.......but i do think it is worth it..i think i'll go get them today....cos they were adorable!! need something for my unisex ones tho...mmmm.....and making an ingredients tag..i havent even got that far yet!!! bvut when i do you's will be the first to know!!! off to do some more baking!! as in nappy cakes! lol....love this thread!!

I found lovely toys in Toys R Us - they're cuddly toys holding photo frames, they're really cute and only cost £2.96

They have pink/blue bears or a yellow duck :D
