    Hello,
I've been lurking for a while and am in awe at all the lovely cakes here.
I've just finished my first cake, for a neice's baby boy - it's not as neat as I would have liked, but I had so much fun shopping for it and making it.
I would appreciate any comment as two cousins are expecting in the next 2 months and I want to try again.
I've included 50 nappies, the centre is a rolled travel changing mat and various freebie bits (thanks Sainsburys/Nectar) , organic baby lotion, organic baby wash, hooded towel, blanket, baby vests, socks, toy. Total cost about £25 (favourite neice!)

    Thanks everyone :T

Shelley, just to let you know they have accepted my account and apparently my order for the ribbon has been shipped, however there are no prices on the order nor shipping charges. Once and if I recieved it I will let you know full price inc postage and details of the company. I'm still not 100% convinced that there is hidden charges somewhere but we will see.

Thanks Rusty hope there are not hidden charges x

Thank you everyone for all your really kind comments :T- I can't wait to get started on the next two.
In the mean time I know it's not really a nappy cake, but you guys gave me the inspiration. It's for a friend's wedding, contains 2 bath towels, two hand towels, 2 flannels, 2 tealight holders and scented tealights.

I suppose the concept could be applied to almost any cloth that can be folded and rolled - hmmm... I shall have to go and have think now :rotfl:

Rusty your cake looks really lovely with the feathers. Where did you get that pink heart ribbon?:T and thanks for the cellophane tip too!

Shelley- Your cakes are just fabulous as usual! i have got a few bits and bobs for my xmas cakes just need some vests or babygrows and ribbon and should be fine.

minimoneyme- your towel and nappy cakes look great!:T

I'm really excited as i've booked to do my first craft fair on next weekend! cant wait! :j although i'm trying to convince myself that it is ok if i dont sell any and that it is all useful advertising. So i have been busy making cakes for it and thought i'd post some pics of my latests attempts.

Bellag they are lovely! I love the bottom one!!!!

I haven't used any heart ribbon on my cake? I have pink footprint ribbon on the top and bottom tier and then a pink organza ribbon with the word baby in pink glittery writing on the middle tier? The only thing I can think of with hearts on is right at the top but that is a pair of socks rolled into a heart :)

I picked it up from a local cake shop. They do it in blue aswell, I know it can be picked up on ebay aswell ... do a search for baby footprint ribbon and there were loads of links. I paid 75p a metre for this but it was for a friend so didn't mind how expensive it was so to speak.
