So? You will of course be adding your costs to the sum to collect.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

  • I realise this is an old thread however, I have received such great support on this forum I wanted to add my own experience with entering the wrong registration number and receiving a PCN.

Every single time myself, my wife, my family or friends receive PCN for this reason (you will be suprised at how many people put the wrong registration down especially when there's small children in tow) I normally send, on their behalf, an appeal to the company saying the following.

"A registration has been recorded by your system as it has been typed in, it is your computer that is at fault however, I have very little faith that you will actually look in to this, therefore, we will thrash this out at POPLA"

In every single case of this happening, we have had a POSITIVE response saying that they have looked in to it and then continue to lecture about that the registration number has been recorded incorrectly, and as a gesture of goodwill they will nullify the PCN (my wording I forget the actual wording)

Hope this helps people reading this in some way

Yes it does and confirms the approach a judge will take if they ever went to court.

Add to that would be para #34 in VCS v Crutchley which helps differentiate between "legitimate purpose" and taking the .....

    That's good

I would imagine all the scammers/cowboys are avid
readers of this forum, and that includes the dodgy
    solicitors, the IPC and BPA

This forum is a "who's who" of scammers
  • Good news beamerguy. VCS sued me for the same "breach of contract" and actually turned up to court. I was surprised when the judge ruled that most of the legal arguments were sound, about their right to issue PCNs etc, but dismissed on the grounds that I had paid and the signage wasn't clear. I was pretty disappointed to be refused costs other than the bus fare from my house. Time of work and travelling from where I was working apparently didn't count. So you did brilliantly to get costs and receive check. Wondering if I can be bothered to counter claim for the costs.

Did you have recent payslips with you? Did you submit a cost schedule to the court and PPC/solicitors a few days before the hearing?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
