Daily thread for 2nd October 2007

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 2nd October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.
Does it count that I fell asleep in front of the TV?:rotfl: :rotfl: DH has just woken me and said it's time for bed!!! I have absolutely no idea what happened during *Murphy's Law" but it's on the hard disk so I can rewatch it.
He can wait for me, I wait for him often enough!
I've got a rotten cold so that's my excuse for doing very little!
Pink-winged hope it goes well for DS2 today (((((hugs)))) I don't suppose you'll read this until after the Op. You are allowed to be totally irrational and tearfull and all the rest:D He'll be fine, I'm sure:kisses3:
Hope everyone has a good Tuesday,
CMxx

Morning all
Firstly,:bdaycake: Happy Birthday to MATH :bdaycake:
Where are ya mate- we've missed your gems of knowledge, your anecdotes and hearing about life in general at Chez MATH (or maybe I haven't read the daily enough lately and have missed them?
Anyway, ((hugs)), happy birthdays and general congrats/commiserations to all as needed.
I've been awake since 2.30Have a really bad sore throat so have soothed it with large mugs of tea. Mind you - have managed to read more of my book in peace
Yesterday I was merchandising/Mystery shopping all day so didn't do much in the house and tea was a most uninspiring jacket spuds and assorted toppings kind of mealSo after I've done the school run I want, nay, need to get down to some cleaning. Need to email some photos of my mystery shopping jobs too but as I've left my camera in my bag downstairs, that can wait too
Other than that, I have got a crochet book out of the library (again) cos I'm determined to finish teh huge scarf I started last year and which ended up being put aside and then forgotten aboutThat's if I can remember all the stitches - and if I can work out which row I was on too!!
Need to ice the fairy cakes tonight - well, DS2 does. So that means the kitchen will need cleaning (again) :rotfl: Had a major baking day on sunday which means I have buns, huge chocolate cakes and 2 parkins as well as HM bread rolls. (The rolls did go in the oven as hedgehogs and mice but my dough was too soft and they merely came out as slightly odd shaped rolls with raisin eyes :rotfl:) And cos I had 2 parkin tins, I doubled the mixture from the time before ..... but it made more than 2 tins worth. Consequently I have loads of cake which spilled over onto the baking tray luckily, which had to be hacked off, which tastes fine but is only fit for putting custard on (ooooh, what an excuse)
Right, my throat needs more tea so I'll love ya and leave ya for now. Hope you all have a good day :T

Edit:
Pink (((hugs))) to you and DS - I'll have to read some previous threads to know exactly what's going on but hope it all goes OK all the same.0 -

Hi Guys
I'm really not too good again but wont bore you with all the details. Have the nurse out again this morning, so that will ease the pain a little.
The wedding was fantastic! Everthing was thought of and we didnt have to ask for anything. Wedding was held in an outside terrace and the weather was glorious. It was at Port Lympe Zoo at the Mansion House which overlooks all the gardens and zoo. They had a quartet (sp) playing the whole (about 5 hrs from ceremoney till after the breakfast) and they were great! After ceremony there were pictures:eek:   strawberries dipped in chcocolate and champagne:D....then an hour safari tour, but dad and OH took kids as it was too bumpy for me and sister was distraught after everything that has happened over the past 2 weeks. We had copious amounts of fresh tea/coffee/cake whilst waiting for them and the bride and groom went off on their 1 hour private photography session:rolleyes: The grounds were truly stunning though and it was all so perfect. When everyone got back, the breakfast was called and we all sat at posh tables...they had taken away my ex BIL place quickly which was a relief. We had our own waitress and everything was silver service! We had 4 glasses each:eek:    ...and the cutlery...well:rotfl: .....she even placed our napkins in our lap:D Starter was HM Brussels Pate with Brioche and onion chutney and a side green salad, bowls of fresh bread and HM butter too. Main was Roast Organic Chicken Breast (bone in) with all organic sausage, stuffing, roast spuds and seasonal veg. The waitress served us then we could have as much as we wanted. Dessert was a rich vanilla and white chocolate cheesecake with organic cream and fresh fruit. Then at speeches we had a huge cheeseboard and salad on each table. Pink and standard champagne was flowing freely as was red and white wine.....and juice for the kids. The kids were given a big box of art materials to do whilst the speeches went on...excellent idea!
We then went into another room and had tea/coffee and chocolates whilst they set up the room for the evening. Wedding started at 1.30pm and finished at 1am....we left about 10 but was so knackering for me. Then they had the 1st dance and a few other ones, then the disco started....all fab 80's music and some recent, then a hot/cold buffet at 9pm. The wedding cake was devine and we all had our own boxes and a miniature bottle of Moet to take home with us:j :j :j ....we had such a good time.
WM is on, DW will go on after breakfast and toilet scrubbed. My girl helper came yesterday and was brilliant as usual. I dont recall her being here much as I was asleep most of the day.
Hope everyone is ok. Hugs

Morning
:bdaycake: Math, where are you ?
Not been out yet, but feeling a bit cool here today - daren't think how cold I will feel when I come back from Florida. Kyle, where are you, have you finished packing yet ? You will have been there a couple of days when we arrive, so could you please sort the sunshine out ready for us
DH has been watching the Amazing Race on Living, and thought it finished last night, but it finishes next week, and we will be on holiday  Does anyone watch it, and if so, will you let me know who wins.
At a bit of a loose end as I can't Ebay, so will crack on with some cleaning and sorting.
Got some chicken out for dinner, but no idea what I'm cooking yet, I might just make something with a ready mix - sorry, but my excuse is I'm trying to empty my cupboard
Hope everyone has a good day, :grouphug: to Pink, hope everything goes OK x
Hi Pen, you nipped in before me, sorry you're not feeling too good, hope you feel better later. You're only young once, but you can be immature forever0 -
Good morning everyone! Back to w*** today, and would really rather stay at home to bake and knit :j
I baked 2 batches of rolls (granary and seedy) yesterday. DS decided that he wanted pack-ups, but after 1 day he's fed up taking a lunch boxI also made some butter cookies and some choc and almond biscuits.
Went to a completely pointless committee meeting yesterday. I was invited into this group to assist with fundraising / grant applications, but keep being over ruled by people who are talking nonsense  . I'm planning my resignation letter in my head.
After reading the Knitters' thread I got my needles out again last night. I WILL have this jumper finished before summer (though I'm not saying which summer:rotfl: ).
Hi, Catowen, hope your weekend headache is better
Haribo - are you around
Pink and family - best wishes for today
MATH - Hippo Bathday :bdaycake:
Churchmouse - hope you got more sleep. Are you over the jetlag - took me weeks
Hilstep - I heard something similar about sleep last week. The article said that 7 hours was ideal - any more or less was detrimental to health.
Chalky  :hello:
Edit - PenPin - that wedding sounds fabulous!
Looking forward to this evening - more knitting
Have a great day, Penny. x:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0
