Morning all! I've been up for ages with DS, he isn't sleeping well in this heat, bless him
He's really uncomfortable! Today I've woken up and my throats is on fire! I'm also losing my voice! DS & I were meant to be going to a singing rhyme time at the library today but I don't think I can manage it! So I'm just going to pop to the shops for some fresh air and some bargain hunting!
- Check banking
- Load of washing and in dryer
- Pay gas/electric bills
- Tidy up living room
Have a lovely day & enjoy the sunshine! XDebt free once - Back again | Current debt: £2479.50 - January 2025 | Make £2025 in 2025 #11 - £41/£20250 -
Morning all, wow it's a hot one,
Plans for today include
-watering the garden
-posting my 9 parcels from ebay
- need to do the Saturday morning clean as we have DG at the weekend
-lots of washing to dry outside
-Write a meal plan for the next 7 days
-check the banking
Plans next week, we are starting the repairs in the kitchen. Hoping to put the house on the market in the next couple of months. The plan is to offer full and final settlements and get rid of the debt. There should be enough equity left over to buy a small Park home very near my parents in a beautiful spot. I cannot wait to be mortgage and debt free.:T
Have a great Friday all xStarted Self Managed DMP 10th May 2017.
Working hard to get rid of our debt.0 -
Morning all
Up early, watered garden pots thoroughly as from today, we will be away for a couple of days and it is HOT!
Picked 3 huge strawberries from a hanging basket, which we shared with breakfast cereal
Fleeced said hanging basket as a naughty blackbird was eyeing up the ripening ones
Started making a list / getting stuff together for camping weekend
Will pack OH off to Lidls in a minute, with a list, though we will take as much food etc as possible from what we have here already, though apart from fuel, the weekend won't really cost anything as it is a private party
Checked banks
Transferred a big chunk of money as we agreed to buy a camper van yesterdayWe have been wanting one for ages, didn't want to commit to spending the money, but yesterday saw that a neighbour round the corner is selling one at a good price. OH had a good look over it, it is quite old, but is being MOT'd before we get it, and has recently had a service
We don't 'do' holidays really but would love to do weekends away etc, we had the money in savings and to be honest we could have spent the same amount on a single holiday. We will be picking it up and doing the tax and on that totally non- MSE note
I had better get on and get the packing done!

Hi everyone, hope you're all surviving in this heat.
Just got in from Tesco's and did a fairly large shop but had £5 off voucher for spending over £50. The thing that really annoys me about Tesco's is that whilst it's great at all the general household stuff and fruit/veg it is rubbish at fresh meats. Everything I looked at today had a best before date of either today or tomorrowI wanted to get the weekly shop in so that meals were sorted in advance and not have to keep popping in. So that means I now need to go to Sainsbury's
Rest of the day looks like this:
* Go to Sainsbury's for the fish/meat and beer that DH likes
* Type up some letters to my creditors detailing my new income and expenditure
* I'm tempted to buy a Tefal Opti Grill which I've been eyeing up for ages and it's reduced in Tesco Direct to £99 - Usually around £120. I can also use my vouchers towards more money off.... still debating
* Complete some more surveys
* Have a look around to see what else I can list on eBay this weekend
* Maybe do a workout but it feels too hot and I'll melt
* Move money into savings account
* Work out monthly budget. Will be tight as DH's birthday, Twins Birthday, Fathers Day, we have a 3 day get away at end of June and DD wants a prom dress  Sound like the Tefal will have to wait
* Usual Pizza night tonight which is always Dominos when I get paid. So will look online for vouchers that I can use.
Have a lovely day. Stay cool everyone :cool:0 -
Can't you freeze the fresh meat from Tescos Twins, and get it out in the evening for the next day as you want to use it?0

Dawn, I am officially green with envy, I love camper vans! Which sort is it? If I don't go ahead with my soft play venture ever I plan (one day,) to convert my Doblo into a camper van. I have seen pics where people have done it and they are the dinkiest camper vans ever :rotfl: Mine is one of the tall ones that has the extra bit of roof for wheel chair access which means I can stand up in it without hitting my head.
Today is Friday, payday and a bank holiday weekend, and just when I thought it couldn't get any better we got an email round saying we can leave at 4pm :T
I brought in breakfast and lunch and nabbed a free pack of puffed chickpea crisps (really nice and only 60 calories!)
I have my wally trolley with me today to take home all the books I bought yesterday, it always seems like a good idea until I get to the stairs going down to the tube and then it weighs a ton!
Dinner tonight might be a payday takeaway if DS is in, if he's out I'll make do with something from the YS fridge.
My plans for the weekend include working my way through the washing mountain and separating and packing DSGF's stuff as I go along. I'm going to put up my new bird box which is totally the wrong time of year but apparently sometimes they will overwinter in them. I plan to do more work on the front garden, the paving needs weeding and I'm going to set myself the task of digging over the bed on the side that doesn't have the current nest box (don't want to disturb them so that one will have to wait until they've flown.) I've been reading that baking soda makes an excellent weedkiller which might be a good solution for the path leading across the grass verge to my house. I'll read up on it but I'm assuming it should be non toxic to the cats and foxes etc I hope.
I need to message the council who definitely haven't emptied my garden rubbish bin :mad:Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
Can't you freeze the fresh meat from Tescos Twins, and get it out in the evening for the next day as you want to use it?
Yes, you're right I could do that. I think I am stuck in my old ways of always wanting to see a long shelf life on the product. I do freeze some bits...have some chicken already in there. Guess I need to put my thinking hat on a bit more :think:0 -
Afternoon frugal friends :hello:
Lovely and sunny here and DH has spent the day in the garden (whilst I've been [mostly] at work). I have/will:
Been for a run (went straight after school drop off) Managed 8.2k :A
Made blueberry muffins first thing, used more of OOD yogurt and some fresh blueberries DH bought cheap
Taken chicken out of freezer for strogonoff for tea
Had JP at lunchtime rather than going out as had been discussed
Renew library book online and take some photos of the recipes I like in it. I can then put it in my car to drop back next time I'm in town.
It's payday, so tonight will be big money shuffle
Take small to cricket practice, already paid for
Check June plans in my little book of things I keep track off
Put free coffee and cake vouchers in my purse, last lot end this weekend, not sure I'll get to use them before then.
Small shopping list that DH might get later after he has been and used his gym membership
2 loads of washing outside
drinking plenty of water
May plant up my hanging baskets later, got some barginous plants yesterday, including some for £2 rather than £10 :T
Enjoy the weather everyone, hope sleep improves for those that need it.0 -
Hello Friday Frugalistas,
A bit of free fitness delivering last of my election leaflets, watered veggie garden then all day in the counting house:
*Reconciled May's budget.
*Set June's budget.
*Allowed a bit extra for our June Personal Spends as we have 2 festivals. Better way of controlling it than little bits of spending going on cards.
*£57 of ebay sales money withdrawn from Paypal & £50 of it paid into our Loan Pay Down Fund.
*Noticed a £15 anomaly in May's Virgin Media bill. Mr f deals with VM & went into instant sleuth mode. Turns out that part of our deal was only for a year, which was news to us, so he phoned & got the payments reduced. End of deal date firmly in my filofax now.
*Wrapped ebay parcel & relisted unsold stuff.
*Received another £5 voucher from surveys......will update sig.
*Paid a CC in full.
*Read energy meters & uploaded to website.
*Investigated latest energy bill. Our monthly dd was reduced by £23 each month & I wanted to be sure we weren't falling behind, but we are still £184 in credit.
*Cheapo meal tonight.....chicken rissoles I made & froze from l/o chicken, l/o bread, etc, with poached eggs & home made jacket wedges.
*mr f volunteered for Aldi shop...... under £25 so far. Still need a few bits from Co-op & market tomorrow, but a great start.
*Mr f also volunteered to clean the entire house as I was so busy with our finances.....minimal products, washable cloths & charity shop bin liners as usual.
Now all I need to do is a big filing session of all my money tasks & I can finally leave 'Foxgloves HQ' & go downstairs for some leisure time.
Dawn - Camper van sounds lovely. We would love one but had to admit we couldn't afford the outlay, so that's why we took up camping instead.....but we may have a campervan one day.
Love to all,
