The only real solution is to find a buyer who is willing to take on the contract, they are usually a posative to the right person, or pay ASG to get out of the contract.
Are you the person that signed up with ASG for the panels originally? How much longer is left to run on contract for the panels, are you prepared to have them removed, at your cost?0 -
Hi, yes, I am the person who signed the contract for the panels 6yrs ago. As the fit ends 31st March 2019, ASG FAQ state that they will eventually transfer the panels over the the landlord. It states in the contract that the landlord can request the panels be removed 3 months from the end of contract. I am thinking that if they are terminating the contract because the fit is ending, I can request they be removed!
Alternatively I await a buyer that will enjoy the rewards of the free electricity as I have.
Will keep you posted

I understood these types of contract lasted 20/25 years.
The Government are ending the FIT for new solar panels, but ones already installed will carry on, on the same terms, so you may have another 19 years left on your contract.
If you get the right buyer for your house, it could be a positive that they will get reduce electricity bills for another 19 years.0 -
Can anyone please give me the email and tel no for the managing director of A Shade Greener. They are preventing our solicitor from exchanging contracts by refusing to get back to us to provide some paperwork. We paid £216 for duplicates but something was missing which is holding up the whole process and we are supposed to be moving in 2 and a half weeks.
I think Z C L mentioned that he had these and got some action.
many thanks anyone who can help.0 -

Currently trying to buy a house with these panels on. Solicitor has advised that they need a Deed of Variation, we were at exchange stage! The survey states that the roof itself needs looking at as the panels are causing it to bow, we were accepting of that as Shade Greener are liable in the lease agreement. We need to be out of the current renatl property on 14th March, any hope???? Advise????

They will not repair the roof and will charge you for scaffolding if you want them to temp remove them for roof repairs. There is a FB group dedicated to complaints regarding A Shade Greener panels and boilers.

Hiya all,
trying to purchase a house with ASG solar panels on it. The survey said the roof timbers are showing signs of bowing. Ok, so im getting a roofer to look in loft to see and assess the damage to repair. My question then is, will i get permission from ASG for them to remove the panels? My builder will provide all scaffording etc so shouldnt have to give them a 'bond' for this. I just want them to remove, i fix, then they can put them back on.
Also, has anyone successfully bought themselves out of the contract? This house still has 19 years left on the contract. I want the house etc only if i can successfully repair the roof OR buy myself out. Any help would be appreciated as it seems to be a complete minefield.0 -
As this is an old post best to start a new one. You will get more answers
When I looked at buying out a lease it was £1000 per year so it would cost you £19k. That was 2 years ago. You can't remove the panels as they are not yours, no idea if you will get permission it will depend on the lease but I would assume they will not allow it and will want to charge you. I pulled out of the purchase as 20k was too much for me.

As above, you can 'buy out' the lease
Or you can get a structural engineer to look at the roof, and advise what strengthening is required. (I suspect it will involve removing the panels to let the roof straighten, strengthening the roof, replacing the panels. Will ASG insist they remove and replace the panels, if so what will they charge?)
Does the lease need varying to make the house mortgageable? (Even if you don't need a mortgage, you might want to eventually sell to somebody who needs a mortgage.)0
