Ours are free, dt. We get no FIT but we do get first dibs on free juice.
I do not understand why ASG/other companies have to make things so difficult if, indeed, it is they who are doing so and not stupid solicitors/mortgage lenders who just see the words, "solar panels" and double their fees without having the first clue about them.
ETA: Clause 5.2.2.2 of our lease agreement with ASG states that the "Mortgagee in Possession" (I think this means the lender in the case of repossession) can terminate the lease "by serving written notice of not less than 2 months on the Tenant specifying the date on which they intend this Lease to determine if the Mortgagee in Possession;
a) having used reasonable endeavours to sell the Premises has failed to sell the Premises and
b) is reasonably advised by an independent surveyor experienced in the disposal of residential properties in the vicinity of the Premises that the presence of the System is adversely affecting the sale of the Premises,
provided that upon early determination the Tenant shall remove the System entirely at its own cost and shall be entirely responsible for speedily rectifying any physical damage that may be incurred to the Premises due to the removal of the System."
Now, I'm no lawyer but I think this means they will take the panels away for nothing if a mortgage lender who has repossessed a property finds they cannot sell it at a reasonable price purely because it has solar panels on its roof. If they can do it for banks and building societies, why can they not do it for homeowners who have leased their roofs to ASG for no cost?
I still think there is more to this than meets the eye and, if ASG had been more inclined to answer the phone (though they seem to be getting better and do have a social media presence) a great deal of unnecessary strife and expense might be spared vendors and buyers of properties with leased solar panel agreements in place. I cannot speak for other companies as I have no experience of dealing with them.
I see no reason to believe that solar panels in general are anything but a good thing for everyone.0 -
One has to wonder is if these "rent a roof" companies actually make decent money from the FIT payments, especially if you are a house wife or work at home and use lots of leccy through the day. Maybe that is why they are semi AWOL.
But I do agree that ASG are a very weird company and that most of the contact details no longer work as I got a boiler off them 4 years ago. Which was a mistake.0 -
ASG want 180 pound to issue a deed of variation for THEIR solar panels, anyone else had to pay this fee0

Hi. Do the solar panels have pigeon guards fitted? If not I wouldn’t go ahead with the sale unless they fit pigeon guards first. Lots of people, myself included ,have a pigeon infestation ,pigeons nesting under the panels .ASG will not take responsibility and fit the guards For free (despite the solar panels being the property of ASG) I was quoted £450+vat + scaffolding +- £1.500 .Trust me it’s a nightmare , you might not get pigeons at first but eventually they will find their way to you.I started with two pigeons 4 years ago. They constantly breed, they don’t leave home ( like humans) when they become adults, they can live up to 30+ years I have + 40 residing under the panels to date. I’m sorry I ever opened the door to the canvasser! 😡0

Hi I’m in exact same boat. I’m ready to move when today was told it’ll be another 4 weeks while trying to get the lease updated from shade greener. I’ve spent most of the day trying to contact shade greener, without success . I’m at my wits end.0

Hi l purchased a house cash with ASG solar panels on the roof rental lease. I am now selling the property. The buyers solicitors are asking for the tariff terms also for a copy of a certificate. I have only a copy of the lease. I have emailed and called ASG no replies after weeks. I could lose my sale.
I contacted the solicitors that did the purchase for me. They said l didn't need these documents only the lease.
Help !!0 -

Maybe the purchasers are hoping to be the new owners of the panels, it sounds like ASG are still the owners.0 -
Mother-in law had solar panels on her semi bungalow with ASG.
She was happy with the arrangement as was a very low electricity user anyway. She has since passed away and although she kept a separate folder on ASG from the moment the 'sales person' came to her door, they are charging us £180 + VAT for 'further information'. Total scammers they must have made £ thousands from her - MIL will be turning in her plot.
AND they seem to be very reluctant to answer phone.
NOT TO BE RECOMMENDED. Do I seem angry?!!!0 -
We have recently put our house on the market. So far we have had 1 person who stated she wasn't interested in the house because of the solar panel agreement. I have email ASG stating this and requested the panels be removed. Has anyone successfully managed to have their panels removed for any reason?
Thanks0
