Yes exactly that, she did make a few payments but then stopped and would blackmail me about paying them ect and a whole load of other drama... but yes I am going tomorrow, I’ve gathered as much information as I can for them, I’ve only just found out all of the catologue names also as she’s been refusing to speak to me for months, but yes I no longer feel guilty about wanting to report her, it’s about time I put myself first0

Hello, I just wanted to say this is the original poster of this I just haven’t had much time to check and make a new account due to old email ect. I have had time over the years to look without replying and just wanted to say thank you all so much for your help and guidance.
I thought I’d just inform you that there was a short period that she was repaying the debt, And after that lied to me about her paying it and hid the letters from ect, and I was too kind and gave her too many chances. Now I’m finally not living at home, so I can actually get the ball rolling and she payed a few payments and now is refusing to again so now I’m sure that she won’t go to prison I’m getting legal action and going citizens advice ect. I did want to do this sooner but I had to play my cards right otherwise I could have potentially been homeless aswell, but now I’ve got a flat so I have nothing holding me back, apart from my credit rating which is still awful and I’ve tried to get basic credit cards to help fix it, even thought I pay all of my own bills on time eg rent phone WiFi ect, but it is still awful. I just wanted to say thank you to all of you, and I’m glad to get the ball rolling - better late than never
Thank you x0 -
Since you have moved out, why don't you get your post redirected so she can no longer hide the letters being sent by your creditors?
As above, since you knew her actions were fraudulent two years ago but failed to report it, your creditors are unlikely to be very sympathetic.
Edit: on further reading, she committed fraud not two years ago, but at Christmas 2017, so 16 months ago. OP would have been approx 18 years and 3 months old then, so passing the age check is not an issue here. OP is fully liable for the debts until such time as she reports the fraud. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Hi OP,
Thanks for coming back and updating the thread.
It's a shame you left it so long as I highly doubt any lender would believe you now given the length of time discrepancy.
I think ultimately you are going to have to take this one on the chin and suffer the consequences of not dealing with this at the time for the full 6 year period (so if this all started in 2015, you will have to wait it out another 2 years until 2021 for your credit history to be wiped clean and start over).
Citizens Advice is a waste of time, they won't be able to help you with anything.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. Any views are mine and not the official line of moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Maybe more reading needed, it was actually Christmas 2015 - most of this thread is from 2017.
Thanks, point taken, but the OP has confirmed the fraud occurred after she was 18, so there is no get out clause by way of claiming that the loan contract is null and void as she was not an adult. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
