The "Train To Gain" courses usually go up to Level 3 and they've dropped the employer contribution too IIRC for those in work. Also it's now generally in not any levle 2, it's in that vocational area e.g. if you've got NVQ2 horticulture but you want to do hairdressing it's not a problem for the funders.
FE is all about funding, and funding is all about bums on seats, retention and achievement.0 -

i completed my equality & diversity course earlier this month and havent heard anything since? has anyone else? sent all my assesments in ages ago.0
-
Has anybody got a phone number for them as i keep trying to log into my account and it keeps saying course withdrawn.
They haven't contacted me about it or anything.0 -
My bf joined his course 3 weeks ago and the plan he got sent out said the course was a 20 week course and finishes at the end of December and they discussed on the phone that five hour study time a week was his goal and he has submitted 3 assessments in the past 3 weeks (1 a week goal).
Then he got an email off his 'tutor' yesterday saying he really needs to start submitting 'several' (!) assessments a day if he wants to pass the course as the WHOLE course finishes on August 19th and he won't pass if he hasn't finished all 5 units! He's only on unit 1. He emailed her back saying He only joined 3 weeks ago, it's supposed to be a 20 week course and the advisors on the phone said 5 hours a week was fine and his action plan says he finishes in December. And she said.....
Tough it finishes on August 19th now and you won't pass if your not finished! (How helpful, she didn't offer any explanation for it).
So he's expected to do a 20 week course in 6 weeks which will involve ALOT more than 5 hours a week. This is HEALTH AND SAFETY course.
So beware if you are joining up cuz they can turn around and do this to you-rubbish! And i've been waiting a month for them to email me my password so I can log in to mine.
edit: He just phoned vision2learn to see what's going on and they said the college sets the deadline and if they change it there's nothing they can do. He said but I only spoke to you 3weeks ago and agreed 5 hours a week and it will now have to be 20+ hours a week and she said yeah but you also 'agreed to work to any deadlines' so you have to now.
Utter rubbish. He got sent a thing saying 20weeks and THAT was the dealine he agreed too and if he'd known the course finished in 6weeks he wouldn't have signed up in the first place.
Anyway beware, everything he's been sent or discussed up until now has turned out to be wrong and pointless and vision2learn have been no help at all and didnt even agree that being expected to complete a 120hour course in 6 weeks (20 hours a week), after initially signing up for 5hours a week, is unreasonable:rolleyes:0 -

I work for a training company who do Train 2 gain funding. Just to let u know why you might be having problems getting funded courses. The Learning Skills council has run out of money for these courses until end of august in some Areas, It has become very popular due to advertising. Also the LSC comes to an end next July so this year ahead might be a bit odd when you are trying to get funding for course.0
