Windows outside - monthly by the window cleaner
Windows inside - when they begin to look a bit grubby
Hoovering - downstairs - twice a week, upstairs - once a week at most
Dusting - once a week at most
    Loos - once a week
Rest of bathroom - not often enough
Kitchen - daily swipe and dishes done
Floor - once/twice a week swept and once a week washed though sometimes the washing of it ends up missing a week

I work full time, am often away over night once or twice a week and on top of all the cooking, shopping and child care the cleaning takes a back seat in our house.

Good idea, EH. OK. Hovering - Living room and hall - every couple of days (if they look like they need it).

Now I feel soooo guilty. I haven't hovered for weeks, unless you count a rather small jump I usually make over my doorstep. :D

Delurking to say I think that's an excellent idea EH! HI, you do so much. I know it's not easy to pace yourself when it has become a routine or even obsession but it will be good for the you all in the long run :)

    For me, it's:
Hoover: once a week except in rooms which don't get a lot of use (ie nursery, I haven't hoovered in there for 3 weeks but haven't set foot in there either) unless the tiny niece has visited and trailed crumbs through the house
Clean tiled floors: Once a week or so - sweeping when needed in between
Kitchen: Wipe down surfaces daily, clean oven every 4-6 weeks
Toilets - wiped over daily, cleaned properly every few days or as needed
Dusting: Depends on area, probably weekly/fortnightly
Skirting Boards: When they look dusty :o (I live on a building site)
Windows: Erm, I can't remember the last time I cleaned them...I'm guessing before I went on holiday so September :o

I really hope exOH doesn't let the littlies down at Christmas but I do think you are wise to plan ahead.

  • Don't feel guilty. It's only that often because there are two very messy men in this household.

  • Although he is coming here Xmas day I don't know if I trust him to actually get them what he's said he is. I think I might change what he is buying so if he doesn't pull through they won't be let down  Or maybe I'll tell him to give me the money and I will sort them and keep them aside for him to give to them :rotfl:

Or you could let him sort out his own Christmas presents to the kids and you buy the ones you can afford within your budget?

  • Good idea, EH. OK. Hovering - Living room and hall - every couple of days (if they look like they need it). Bedrooms - once a week (sometimes less). Mopping kitchen and bathroom floors - every couple of days.

Oh you're GOOOD...mine are lucky if they see a mop once a month! :rotfl: (but I don;t have small people or 4-footed fiends to leave muddy tracks - mind you i DO have a MrEH who's pretty good at leaving those so... :rotfl:)

When I hoover (hover?! :rotfl:) I hoover right through - but that generally only happens once a week. I'm quite good at picking obvious bits off the carpets though to make hoovering less frequent! :o:D

I am currently remarkably good with the kitchen but that's only because it's still quite new. Once the novelty wears off it'll be the same one-a-week as the bathroom now gets! :D

Can't remember the last time I did that. Is that why it's smoking when I turn it on?

Do you live in my house?? lol

Kitchen surfaces get wiped after every washing up.
Downstairs gets hoovered when I think it looks a bit bad (although more currently as 2 new furry felines are making one h3ll of a mess), upstairs probably a little less.
Windows - inside when the sun shines in a certain way and I can see all the grubby marks.... outside, the downstairs windows and doors get done when the inside does.... upstairs - not since the windowcleaner fell off his ladder about 10 months ago (didn't fall at our house!)
Bathroom - well it's me OH and DSS, so the toilet is cleaned and various surfaces wiped down daily!
Dusting - when the TV screen is not as clear as it should be ... or the sunlight highlights just how bad it has got.... ceiling lights and lamps really don't show up the dust in the same was as sunlight!

I'm out the house 11 hours a day and OH around 10.5, so home time is more about relaxing in our house. :)
