I never know what to take from it and what I should just be covering myself :o

I don't know as much about it as charlies tribe but I would imagine anything you spend on her which you wouldn't have spent on another child the same age. So maybe for instance your non-dairy milk will cost more - so perhaps take the difference in costs out of the DLA?

Definitely use the DLA to cover the nappies, syringes etc. It's things you wouldn't normally buy for a child of the same age.
It was the household things I was thinking you could use some towards too. A bit towards the electric/gas, A bit towards food, I know you all eat the same, but it's because of DD that you all eat that way, to protect her from having something she cant.

And yes we use some for DS clothes and bedding etc. We bought him 8 new t shirts for the holiday (3 weeks ago). I think only 2 don't have holes yet where he has chewed them. I've thrown 2 sweaters away this week that he has chewed through the zips and his coat now has holes in the arm where he has been chewing.
He has chew toy things but if we take our eye off him he prefers the fabric to chew on.
If you are having to cut holes for tubes etc, if she falls and holes thing/ they have to be washed and wear out quicker than the other children, don't feel bad replacing them.

  • Also check the council tax/housing. I'm sure you would still get some help.
You could use the turn2us/entitled to calculators to see if they give you a rough idea, our council also has a calculator on it so might be worth checking your local council site to see if they have.

  • Thank you will check all that out tomorrow once smalls are all in school.

Youngest on 3 hours a day this week so will have time to actually do these things without her 'help'

Thank you for the replies, I think that makes things much more realistic.

I have a list of things to do this week though :o

The cookers broken, I need to chase this up being repaired.
I need to check when the gas safety check is because I can't remember :o
I need to make sure I have enough groceries in and write a list of the things that are definitely needed on payday.

Go over the budget for payday this week and make sure I actually cover us enough to last to the next payday.
  • I don't really know enough about this but I would say that anything that costs you because of the little one's extra needs should come from the DLA and you shouldn't feel guilty about using it for such. Certainly check on council tax and anything else that you might be entitled to. Lots of people here who are willing to give you advice. And listen to your manager - she is talking sense.
I have the longest list of things to do this week and I know I'll get nowhere near to accomplishing as much as you would. You're doing great, Hidden. You just need to believe in yourself. Loads of hugs.
Have adventures. laugh a lot and always be kind.

    Hey Hidden

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

  • I'm sure glad about the decision with work.

I think I did a bit too much lifting today :o

Anyway, got most of the things I wanted to do done. I want to try and budget in another tin of paint so I can go over the living room before Xmas. Really running out of time though.

Oh dear to the lifting. Hope a bit of rest sets you right again.

Another week off work might help you get ahead with the painting. Have you tried local free groups for paint? No one ever precisely finishes a tin!
