Just thought I'd pop by to say hi. We got some devastating news yesterday and it's taking a while to process. I've taken today and monday off work and I'm hoping I can get my head around things. May WFH on Monday if I can get my head into it. Own label aspirin is helping my headache from all the tears.
It's quite sad but I reconciled YNAB and that made me feel better - something I can be in control of.
I'm also v close to putting a £4k holiday on a 0% cc to take my mind off things but I know that is not really a problem solver...!
Going to go a dog walk later and our new kitchen flooring will soon be here so looking forward to getting that down.
Take care everyone!

Sorry to hear you've had such bad news, La E. I don't feel like I've heard anything but bad news this year, I am sending sympathies. It does take time to get your head round this sort of news. I totally agree that it can help a little bit to keep everyday routines going. As you say, it's a case of feeling in control where you can. Thanks everyone. I wish I was religious and could take comfort in God's bigger plan. Let's see what life has in store for us... Testing times ahead but I'm hoping I can stay on track with routine, yoga, meditation and wine!0

Not much achieved today but we have some good news (well I say good news, we're all nervous but relieved too) ... we have a date for DH's op, he has to go in on Friday afternoon and fingers crossed there are no emergencies (resulting in cancellations) he'll be in theatre Saturday.Goodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

Morning all
Good news Ziggy, we will all be thinking of you and your OH
It is wet here, so planning some indoor activities today, apart from dog walks, which will have to be scheduled between showers! Hope it clears up, as OH and a couple of friends are intending to renovate a memorial bench for a young man who died in an accident some years ago, at the request of his family.
So, today's plans include:
HG fruit from freezer for breakfast Done
Some housework, middle floor today Ended up washing the kitchen and bathroom floors instead
Post 2 ebay sales Done
Went to sales unit while in town, not much seems to have sold there
Bought a loaf, some hand wash stuff, a courgette plant )from a charity stall) and a small item to sell on while in town
Load of paperwork for business, April accounts stuff
List 2 new items Managed 3 :T
Relist anything that ends today A couple of things ending shortly
Meals from stores Done
Sort a load of old paperwork, shred where necessary, file what is still needed (won't be much) and put generic items in recycling bag Done, except for the shredding - OH apparently threw the shredder awayIt was on its last legs I suppose. Now have a pile of paperwork with personal info on that I don't want to just put in the recycling. Guess I will have to tear it up into little pieces, soak it in water and put it in the compost bins.
No doubt there will be more, so I will come back later to update0 -
This week has a full on one, following the redundancy a couple of weeks ago I have been applying and interviewing for different roles. I have a job offer although less money than before, it is 5 min from home and good compromise having to change from 30hrs to full time.
It is temp placement with an agency, so no benefits ( sick pay etc) so I might be looking again in the near future, I figured it was worth a shot and it will give a good range of skills to my CV.
- Revisited a budget
- Need call tax credits on Monday
- Ordered gifts for DD forth coming parties, there are 10 in total, although I had some in the present box.
- Sold and posted 2 books
- Waiting for ebay person to pay, although I think they may have made a mistake as the item is collection only, but they have been in contact at all
- Good news, all of my CC has been paid off, and I am debt free.:beer:0
