I'd been aware of it for a while and was secretly hoping she wouldn't ask but they're pretty cheap, if you can get hold of one now, and they're supposed to be good to keep stress levels down. As she's moving school I figured it can't do any harm so we've ordered it.
Has anyone found them useful or are they just another fad?lazarou_true wrote: »Annoying things they are but less so than chuffing loom bands, remember them?Fortunately I never had to put up with them as a 'thing'.

If she created it 20 years ago, it would no longer be possible to renew the patent as the life of a patent is 20 years. Renewal fees are payable annually for patents. So she would have lost the rights years ago if she failed to pay the fees at any time during those 20 years.
It is because patents have a shelf life that there are generic medicines - once a patent has run its course, others are allowed to use the know how.Smiles are as perfect a gift as hugs...

17! Wow!
We have three in our house now, I thought that was a lot!shopaholicz wrote: »mine have them. I bought some from Amazon, which haven't arrived yet. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B06XK7JHCY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
At £1.99 each, I'm happy to wait for them.
I also bought some from ebay £3.49 each with 1st class postage, they arrived the next day.
On the market they are £5 and £6 each for the normal plastic coloured single variety.
Children go to different schools, one school has banned them completely, the other says they can be taken in and played with at breaks.
Definitely then latest fad!! but all their friends have them, one friend has 17 !!Could you do with a Money Makeover?

I'm moving house. Still finding loom bands around the place. The girls insist they still play with them :eek:lazarou_true wrote: »My son spent his pocket money on quite a few to sell on the friends, he's 13 and feels quite the entrepreneur. Our school has banned fidget toys unless its included for a child SEN plan. We did this a few weeks ago as we found we had a lot of cubes being brought in, the spinners haven't really been as bad for us but as a teacher oh so distracting!Swagbuckling since Aug 2016 - Earnings so far.. £55.0

Hmm.
I just see these as a treatment for ADHD, but not a cure. Are they helping the person to control their illness or just a way to accept it into their daily lives...
But then I suppose it's just a modern take on the stress ball.0 -
I won't let my kids have them. Neither of my children have any of the conditions that they are intended to help with and therefore they don't need one.
I am surprised that any schools still allow them.0 -
Kids school have banned them in lessons, don't see the longevity but my 10 year old is currently spinning hers (and not driving me mad at all).0

I remember my sister being a bit miffed when her school banned these...
Fidget spinners seem a bit tame in comparison.0
