Fidget spinners: Who has one? Where did you get it? How much did it cost?

I don't see any longevity in it myself.

They have been banned at my sons school.
He has ADHD and has a fidget box at home, we don't have one of these but do have the fidget cubes which he will sit and fiddle with, unfortunately he is not allowed it in schoolI even find myself dipping into the box fidgeting can be quite relaxing

Our school will only allow them if the child has an official medical requirement for one (as specified by their doctor). The school is finding that half the class has one of these spinners or clickers and it is causing nightmares for the teachers during lessons.
I don't see how any child is going to have a medical requirement for having a spinner, it's unfair on all the other children as they are not allowed them.
Some children will have medial requirements for needing something to fidget with BUT that doesn't have to be one of these spinners, any other fidget device will suit.0 -

These spinners have been around a long time for SEN children long before it became a playground fad!!0 -

I don't dispute that but do question why an SEN child would have to have a spinner in class as opposed to all the other available fidget gadgets (unless of course they used one before they became latest fad - that would be different otherwise they have jumped on the fad bandwagon, making them no different to the other kids)
In my experience the best fidget devices are things that are not actually designed to be fidget items.0 -

My son finds the spinners more relaxing than other fidget gadgets, although he has a few different ones. However, he doesnt use them in class. Personally I find spinners quite relaxing too, but I find the fidget cube that my son has irritates me. I can't stand the constant clicking.0 -
We have two, had them months. Cost about £1 in 2p coins as they were from a coin pusher at the seaside!0

And the poor woman who created this multi million pound fad 20 years ago, has not made a penny from them. Apparently she couldn't afford the $300 to renew the patent! She'd have been minted by now! x0

At £1.99 each, I'm happy to wait for them.
That one is dispatched from China - so you've got a bit of a wait
This one has a UK seller doing them for £2.85 - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Spinner-Reducer-Durable-Ceramic-Continue/dp/B06XN5YMWZ/
I've got a couple of fidget cubes on order for my children - https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01MZXOR7M/0 -

If she had renewed the patent this fad would not have come about.
Its only now that they can be cheaply copied and available for a few quid they are popular.
If they were charged at £10+ each, the masses wouldn't have given them a second glance, only those looking for SEN needs would have been buying.0
