Fidget spinners: Who has one? Where did you get it? How much did it cost?

Our school has banned fidget toys unless its included for a child SEN plan. We did this a few weeks ago as we found we had a lot of cubes being brought in, the spinners haven't really been as bad for us but as a teacher oh so distracting!
One of my friends (who is on the spectrum) says a class full of the things drives her absolutely crazy, but her ASD is outweighed by the children's needs, so she's been told she just has to put up with them. She has to hide for ten minutes in a dark storeroom in between teaching just to try and calm down from them all over the place.
Until these came into fashion, I used to give the kids a bundle of small cable ties or blu-tak and they could fiddle quietly with those whilst still able to pay attention. These gadgets seem to distract more than calm in a lot of cases.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

The trainer at my old job had a box of squidgy stress balls and those Tangle fidgets. Silent, but wonderful.

Fidget spinners seem a bit tame in comparison.
I am trying to remember whether Rubiks Cubes got banned in our school. Pupils were forever bringing them in and they either got stolen, lost, or vandalised, as kids gave up trying to solve them the conventional way and instead took them apart or took the stickers off. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. My 3 year old Grandson bought a fidget spinner to my house today. His other Nan had bought it him. It didnt seem to hold his interest (or mine). This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
