CSA Attachment of earnings, bye bye job!

OP, you need to have this situation looked at by CSA as legally they can only take 40% of an nrp's net income, you state that your net income is £1100, 40% of this would amount to £440 per month and you state that they are taking more than this.
A deduction of earnings order should not operate for the full amount you state as you should have a protected income that cannot be touched, you need to check with CSA what income they have down for you and if incorrect get it adjusted, check what your protected income is and also ensure that the deo is not opertating above the 40%.

Duchy I don't think you have read or understood any of my posts.
Try again and you might just get the point!0 -
I totally agree with you and think that the CSA are off their head!!!!! and thats being polite.... they are total _ossers and are not interested in the slightest of how you can live in my opinion you might as well give up work and all these people who say things such as " do you want your kids to suffer " well that is total nonsence... of cause you dont just like all the dads that get such a raw deal its not about that at all.No wonder men have killed them self over this ABSOLUTLY un workable system.... And i am a women but it makes my blood boil to read stories like yours and some of the relpies you get.Its about time the government woke up and sorted this mess out.... Good luck to you.:T:rotfl:0

Amelias, yes thats right. The CSA can only take a certain amount. Trouble is, they sell off the debt to an outside agency who are not constrained by any sense of fairness and the fact that a father bloody well needs to live too!
The debt collectors couldn't give a stuff about anything. They are a private company leeching upon those in debt!
The CSA are taking £230 per Month which is fine! I have no problems with that, it is a fair and reasonable amount and I have absolutely no qualms about paying that amount. They are probably within the law and taking an amount which gives me a protected income.
Everything was fine. The Government were getting their £800 tax and NI off me, the CSA were getting £230 off me, everybody was doing the right thing - THEN the arrears, rather than being taken at a sum to allow me to continue to work, continue to support my kids, continue to allow me to contribute my taxes to society, SUDDENLY get pulled from my wages at £450!! on top of the £230!!!! I instantly become unable to even pay my most basic of living expenses -MY RENT! I am left with LESS money to live on than it costs me PURELY to have a roof over my head let alone eat, clothe myself and pay bills, and as for getting to travel to see my kids well that's a joke!
The point I'm making is so simple yet the sourpuss brigade who hate their ex-partners simply go for the jugular without THINKING about it!
I'm sorry but single Dads SOMETIMES get a raw deal!
This is a prime example!
I was contributing tax and NI AND child support. I've simply been pushed into a corner! I'm no fan of doleies and spongers. I'm a proud and hardworking man. I don't want to go on benefits at all, the thought of it is alien to me!
I have less now coming in than it costs me to have a roof over my head! Surely anybody viewing this forum must realise that it makes more sense to continue to let me work and pay off any arrears in a manageable way.
When I hear of a bloke giving up work and going on the dole because he doesn't want to pay a couple of hundred quid a month from a reasonable wage, it makes my blood boil! All I am saying is that the options to me have ceased.
If I can't even afford a roof over my head, well where do I go? What do I do?
It's just these private Nazis who seem to be able to buy misfortune and extracate money from those in difficulties.
Duchy seems too stupid to get the point but I HAVE been paying the £230 happily and without any complaints.
The CSA arrears brigade have just turned a manageable, positive situation
into a tax-burden for the state.
DON'T YOU ALL GET THE BLOODY POINT!!!!!????????????0 -
most see your point
you are not seeing that we see your point
but what are you doing about it in regaurds to trying to get the amount reduced?
people have advised well
have you called the csa to explain
also the possability that if the csa arrears people can do a doe then surely they have to abide by some rule that you have to have a protected amount have you looked in to this?
have you called your mp they really can be very helpfull in these cases
i do sympathise with you an yeah you have been well an truely had over with the arrears but now stop the rant and do something about it take the advice you have been offered and explore every avenue before walking out of your job0 -
something that i dont understand an im only asking as you keep pointing it out why are you paying 800 pounds to the tax man thats alot of tax when your take home pay is only 1100 it doesnt add up0

You are being unfair, whatever the rights and wrongs of how he got arrears, he can't live on what he is left with and he wouldn't get any help with rent, council tax etc as they would take his full salary into account. What do you expect him to do! He was paying CSA, would have paid his arrears at a sensible amount, but now he is in an impossible position. How can this possibly benefit his children or his ex? I am a mum by the way. It seems to me that non resident parents (mainly dad's) are the only group in society that can be openly discriminated against and villanised! Many didn't choose to be NRP's, there are good and bad, just as there are good and bad parents with care. Yes, of course they should pay to support their children, but surely they are entitled to rebuild their lives too.0

Daisy, get the point!
The deduction of earnings from the CSA is completely seperate to that of a debt-collector!
The CSA may well be collecting within the rules, but they pass on debt to outside companies.
Csa collects within the rules to allow me to live a life!
Unfortunately they wash their hands of the debt and sell it on! The debt-collectors just want money. They have no worries about whether the debtor is able to afford the repayments!
As far as the Govt/Csa are concerned, They are collecting within my protected earnings.
Anybody else comes outside this, so whether I owe the Csa, BT, Rates, Congestion charge, DVLA, in fact ANYBODY ELSE doesn't come into the equation!
Basically the CSA have got rid of the debt owed to them by selling the debt to a private company.
This private company make money by extracting money from those in debt.
Nobody wins in this situation.
Can't you see that as taxpayers everybody loses!
Get it into your heads!
Nobody wins!!!!!!
Last week, the Gov't was getting my taxes and NI
I was paying £230 to my kids
The debt collectors were getting b u g g e r all (had to spell out due to profanity editor) (lol) but nobody asked them to get involved. (well maybe the stupid Govt did)
Now, I have been put out of work as the work I do does not cover even the most basic of my costs.
Do you really think this is sensible?0 -

Justontime thank you. The first really pertinent and sensible contribution to this debate!0
