I'm sorry, are you just thick, have you actually READ my posts??

I have loads of self respect. I don't want to go on the dole, far from it.

If you took the time to READ and maybe digest my posts, you'd see that the ONLY reason I have to do this is because I cannot pay my rent and bills on inder £100 per week!

If you can come up with a way of magically shrinking my living costs then sure, I'll stay as is!

Tell you what, you come up with an answer!

My income now doesn't even cover JUST MY RENT!

At least the dole will keep me from being slung out on the street as my rent and rates would be covered.

and by the way it's 'You're' not 'your' and Voluntarily is spelled correctly here and I wouldn't be claiming 'of' the state but 'off' it presumably.

Sounds like one of those bitter twisted ex wives:rotfl: :rotfl: (who can't spell)

After reading through your posts i agree that the CSseem to be taking a lot off you at once. However you havn't stated whether or not you have contacted or attempted to reach a compromise witht the CSA prior to the DEO for arrears being taken off you at source. If you cannot afford this amount then you need to appeal to them to reduce the amount of monthly payment for arrears.

Another alternative is as you are on good terms with your ex to get her to close the CSA claim and have a private agreement etc

of course you may have already tried these avenues-just a thought though before you give up an obviously high paid job/career

I wouldn't have called £1100 take home per month a high paid job :D Its certainly below average particularly when my hours are taken into account!

    Its certainly liveable though!

If you're looking to decrease your outgoings with immediate effect, you could do worse than look at the Oldstyle board. There are lots of hints and examples there of eating well on not very much, simple things round the house to save money. As you'll be voluntarily leaving a job I don't know where you'll stand with benefits - you may find it quite a while before any money comes in again, so it may be a good idea to take stock of what you have in the house.

So have you sought advice about it from anyone else such as the CAB or even a solicitor?
Surely there is something other than claiming dole whcih is actually JOBSEEKERS allowance, so in effect you will have to be seeking work

Minus your rent and council tax you will still have the same bills to pay. Are you going to be able to pay those on the dole?

Im not sure what the point of this thread is tbh and I think roy has posted in the wrong section, I dont think he wants advice he just wants us to jump on the bandwagon and have a discussion on how the CSA are bleeding some nrp's dry, I doubt there will be much sympathy flying this way seeing as a lot of lone parents on this site have had to put up with their ex's jacking in their jobs to avoid maintenance :o

Don't forget that if you pack in your job the CSA may consider that you have deliberately deprived yourself of the income in order to avoid paying them (regardless of the reasons for doing so) and could actually leave your assessment as it is which would mean that whilst claiming benefits (which you may not get for up to 26 weeks due to giving it up) you will be racking up huge arrears which will still have to be paid.

The arrears are owed and you don't mention whether the company who have attached the earnings have tried to contact you to come to an agreement. This would be usual practice and they would only attach earnings if you were unwilling to come to such an agreement.

I would suggest that you try and re-negotiate the amount of arrears collected with the CSA - how much are they? Their current steer is that they collect this amount within a 2 year period - is this the case here? However, they SHOULD be taking into account any hardship that the payments would leave you in. You have nothing to lose but to try. To be honest how the arrears may be relevant in their response - if it is due to their delays, then you will probably have more of an argument to get them reduced; in fact you could try and argue via your MP that the payments are too high due to their lack of action. If they were caused by you then you will get less sympathy.
