I'm glad the living room came up today.

Room has now been tidied, rubbish put away, bits laying around have been moved to their rightful place. I have also made sure sofa and floor have been hoovered. Looks loads better and it only didn't take too long (did it whilst the OH was cooking dinner).

May attempt to take the kick-boards off in the kitchen and clean out the spider webs underneath. In fact, yep, that's precisely what I shall do next. ;)
This morning I spotted spiders' webs adorning the base of the DR cupboard. They're still there. :p

Splendid place for a day out!

(((Hugs))) to Bossy, Narc0, Fayolle and anyone else in need.

I have been out all day on placement and DH has been out all day on a first aid course, so we went out for a meal this evening (with a 40% off mains voucher, of course).

I have decluttered a trough-type vegetable planter from someone's skip. I did ask permission first, and was told "Yes, of course, but the inside boards are rotten." No they're not - it's falling apart because the screws holding the boards to the frame ought to have been put in from the board side, not the batten side. It will only take me about an hour to put in some extra screws and repaint the trough before I fill it with compost, then I shall have doubled the size of my veg garden :D Very pleased about that because all the veg seeds that I planted last week in little pots and the other planters (aka re-purposed wooden compost bin halves) are coming up a treat!

This evening I also went and spoke to our new neighbours at the house at the bottom of our cul-de-sac. There is an 18" wide strip of land, covered in gravel, on the cul-de-sac side of their fence. The previous owners used to treat the strip every spring with weedkiller, so that it was left horribly bare for most of the year. The ash, dandelion and groundsel seedlings are just beginning to come up everywhere now, so I know that last year's weedkiller has finally been washed out of the soil. The new people are happy to weed the strip with me (we'll start at opposite ends and meet somewhere in the middle) and then for me to throw a mix of seeds over it and see what comes up. Result! I have several packets of aquilegia, poppies, marigolds etc that I have collected over the past few years from my own garden and friends' gardens, as well as various gardening magazine freebies. Even if only a few of the seeds germinate, we can look forward a much more colourful approach to the house this summer :D

Another year I might even try growing runner beans up the fence!

That reminds me - Tomorrow I need to find the rose for the watering can. It's probably in the shed, so that means the shed will get its annual tidy ;)

I ought to clean the house tomorrow and get rid of those cobwebs, but I absolutely must start writing another assignment - time is not on my side - so the spiders will be left to enjoy the fruits of their handiwork for another 24 hours :p

    G'night all x

    Morning all,

I'm so glad yesterday is over with, it was a rotten day. I have most of today to myself, save for a small amount of paid stuff, so will crack on with the list.

Just having a cuppa in bed and willing the sun to come out.

Hope YL is ok, it's not like her to be MIA.

    Have fab days all xx

    Good morning ladies :D

Polling day today. So Small's school is closed as the school hall is the polling station for our village. Small has a day off...

Tiny does not know this yet.

Anyway, I'm hopeful we will have a fun-packed day making cookies, lunching at a friend's house then wearing all the kids out in her garden. Yes, this will happen....

Sorry yesterday was carp ATB :( anything in particular?

Was thinking about you too Bossy. Anniversaries are always a bittersweet reminder of a lost loved one. It would have been my 22nd wedding anniversary to DHno:1 this year. Instead it's four years with DHno:2. How he has survived that long is anyone's guess...

Good news about the unloved green space Iona...you just need to wiggle your green fingers now and it will bloom into beauty.

Hugs to all. You girls are amazing. I'm missing Yorkie too - anyone have any news?
