Surprisingly there seems to be the same amount to do although there is no-one here to create mess. A universal conundrum.
2nd ParkRun today. Shaved 5secs off last week:T
Yes! - just how is it that the work level is the same when no one is around to make the work?! :rotfl:
Great stuff on parkrun - it's my aim to do one before the AutumnLife is a pile of rhino faeces tbh.. I'm utterly sick of it.. DS2 has still not had a penny since January LAST year.. we've had nothing since mid-March... it's just ludicrous... how we are expected to survive is beyond me.
I can empathise - OH was out of work for almost a year around 4 years ago - he only received contribution based JSA for 6 months (total was around £1800) and then nothing - so we had that and child benefit and that was it - for a family of 6. The child benefit and JSA (when we got it) didn't even total enough for our mortgage payment, let alone any food/ clothes/ prescriptions etc - we didn't get any council tax reduction, free school meals, free prescriptions etc. We didn't even get child tax credits at first, as I didn't apply for them until he'd been out of work for around 7 months as any job he did get if earlier than then was likely to mean we'd have to repay any money we received.
Thankfully we had good savings (hence why we didn't get anything else - I do understand that (although it did feel like a penalty for having saved rather than spending on holidays/ new cars/ games consoles/ new phones etc)) - but we used most of them up in the time he was off and have still not caught up back to that level of savings now (although we no longer have a mortgage, so when he was out of work again last year it was financially much easier)
Hope you get some finances one way or another soon xI am the master of my fate; I am the captain of my soulRepaid mtge early (orig 11/25) 01/09 £124616 01/11 £89873 01/13 £52546 01/15 £12133 07/15 £NILNet sales 2024: £200 -
Afternoon all
We have been to the park, now DH is clearing the gutters out and kiddies having lunch. DW has been on twice, and I have pegged the washing out.
Full day of paid stuff and volunteering tomorrow so I would really like to get ahead of myself. Great success of the weekend was getting DH VAT return done on Friday night, my quarterly torture!
Hugs to the poorlies xxMFW

I like this getting ahead thing. All the shower room needed was a quick swish and swipe together with a couple of towels and it was ready for today's arrival. And the bedroom was ready last weekend so that's amazing for me.
Sitting room and dining room carpets sucked and looking okayish. They really, really need a wash, so I'm hoping for some hot weather when I've got some energy so I can do them both. It's been at least two years since I last washed them and it's defo showing.
I've done the prep for tonight's meal. OH normally cooks a Sunday roast but things are revving up and he needs to use his brain tonight with some visitors. I'd rather be roasting a chicken.Better is good enough.0 -
Sorry, Mr LW and myself are both officially on the sick list. He's still coughing and spluttering and drinking Lem$ip like it's going out of fashion; I have a raging sore throat, gritty eyes, and everything tastes sort of metallic.
I've managed to make a crumble and a quiche today, and that's pretty much used up all my energy.
Supposed to be having Mr LW's pal round for the evening on Wednesday; but if we're no better we shall have to text and put him off. I hate letting people down, but needs must, and all that.
We need to go into town tomorrow whatever else doesn't get done; we both have prescriptions to get filled, and I have a cheque to pay into the bank.If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I've not done too much today but I have been in the garden, mowed the lawn, swept the patio.
I've also got through two loads of washing.February Grocery Budget: £190.75/£350.00

Get well soon Wolfie and Mr LW X
Coughing here still.
Ironing done
DH cut the front lawn
Wmx3 dried outside but someone has had a bonfire so I'm not best pleased
Yesterday we took Ds2 to a preparing for adulthood event. We got a few ideas for the future, he said the best thing about it was a drink in the cafe on our way out.0 -
Sounds like the lurgy is everywhere! Anti-cough vibes to both LW and dancemum and anyone else suffering xx
I think I actually feel better for the (forced) fresh air - although glad I took some tablets with me as this bloomin gala thing went on four flamin' hours! Still, he got four matches and a medal out of it, so he's happy. Apart from his bestest football buddy getting elbowed in the face - other player kept making a beeline for him with his arms up - honestly wouldn't think 8yr olds would play like that. DS got really cross and barged the other boy to stick up for his buddy  not like him at all! Other 3 games were much more civilised!
Flying wise, I've S&S 2 sinks and loos, made the granny room habitable as MIL is coming for a sleepover in a couple of days, generally tidied round and kept kitchen tidy.
Bathtime, for kiddies. Then bed, I think. Crikey it's been full-on this weekend!Bossymoo

Hope the sick ones feel better.
Managed my run this morning, workout 3 of week 2. Just downloaded week 3 onto Mr N's iPod. Don't think I'll follow advice to do the Park Run yet - what's the point? I'd have to drive 6 miles, park, run, drive home again. Takes less time just to run out of the front door, do the circuit and get home in half an hour. Think I'll save the ParkRun till I can do it "properly" if that day ever arrives.
Today's blitz on bedroom, especially the contents of the under-eaves cupboard, went by the way as the weather was so nice so we spent most of it in the garden.
Then did a whole load of financial/admin for various events:
- transferred payment for Cornwall apartment rented
- bought coach ticket to go and see mad tango show in Southampton with my brother and SIL. Will stay with them overnight, then get train the next day to meet mum for our holiday so bought and printed off train ticket.
Can't remember what else, didn't constitute housework as such but a lot of 'stuff' to do.
Now about to read through all paperwork I sent the Uni in preparation for tomorrow's interview. Then do more of a report.Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.0 -
Been lying low as minimal flying here this weekend. However, I finally stopped procrastinating and actually cleaned the bathroom. Apart from that, it's been pretty much dailies and that's it.
Went for a 6 mile run this morning! This is completely unheard of for me, and has taken years to get to. I'm certainly not a fan of exercising, and never, ever thought that I would ever say that I could run, so all you lovely ladies doing the Park Runs and C25K, go for it...if you enjoy it. I hate it! But we have a good gossip on the way round, fresh air, and fantastic views to look at when we need a rest, so win win.
Hugs to all the poorlies, and see you on the new Fred.0 -
Good evening
I have spent 2 hours at the allotment this morning - caulis and peas are in! Then came home for a quick lunch, took DS to work and did a Mr S shop. Back home to unpack quickly before my riding lesson, then back home again.
DH had done the laundry, and some ironing. He hasn't done much else because he is faffing about making an album! (as in a CD, not photos!) Meanwhile, the grass is still not cut!! He has spent the evening faffing with a printer and a CD case for his album cover!! I wouldn't mind if it made us rich
I have spent the evening doing some accounts - last years income is done, just need to do the expenses now. Every year I tell myself that I won't leave it until December!!
That's about it really. See you all on the next thread0
