Ebay Frauster Take That Tickets - How Do We Stop Him?

Hi,
Can anyone help?

There is a scammer on ebay who is repeatedly getting money out of take that fans for tickets. I was scammed (possibly not by him) and have now posted an ebay listing just warning people. Since then people have been contacting me and there is a common theme coming through about the ID of this man. He has been reported to ebay numerous times and they have done nothing. I reported my fraud to the police but it was not this seller. Therefore I don't suppose the police have awareness of this person.

This man has now taken thousands of pounds in total and is still listing tickets and people are still bidding. Some people are bidding deliberately to scam him.

We have his mobile phone number and someone has even spoken to this person.

I have posted warnings on the take that website and my listing seems to be helping people to realise it is the same man.

We are going to watchdog, but this might not really do anything.

Any advice is much appreciated.

I sympathise, but I'm a bit confused by your post... how many scammers are we talking about?

Maybe we can help resolve your own scam problem... or was it too long ago?

  • I was scammed by someone who I'm fairly sure is not the guy everyone else has been scammed by. So we are talking 2 scammers so far.

    I was scammed in August.

The others have all been scammed recently by the same person and this person has been selling on ebay this week.

    Does that help??
  • There's a campaign thread here... I don't know how successful it's been.

    What exactly is the scam?
Did you get your money back?

  • I don't mean the same person who scammed me. I mean the same person as several others!
  • So have you lost any money personally, or this purely a moral crusade?

If you read the thread in the link you'll see how the last one fared.

  • Fay, your links not working.
  • Yes I lost £500. It is also now of interest me to stop other people getting scammed if at all possible. Not sure about the "moral crusade".
  • The scam is someone repestedly setting up accounts on ebay and selling tickets to see take that. They either copy photos from other people's listings and say they have the tickets in hand, or they say they haven't arrived from the promoter yet. (The promoters only release the tickets about 7-10 days before the gig, so most people who bought tickets this way are waiting for them to arrive).

The person accepts every other payment method than paypal, meaning once the money is gone you are not covered. One person has had their credit card used fraudulently by the seller since they paid for the non-existent tickets. He has apparently also used the person's details to set up other ebay accounts.

The person who scammed me hijacked another seller's ebay account. They appeared to have 100% feedback so i trusted them. It was only AFTER the listing had ended and I paid by bank transfer that ebay told me it was a fraudulent transaction.

Various people have been reporting suspicious listings to ebay but they do not get withdrawn in time. Occasionally people have deliberately bid a ridiculous amount of money to "scam" the seller.

Since I posted the following listing on ebay: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=130158392341&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT&ih=003 I have had many emails from people having been scammed, and the ID seems to be the same in all cases.
  • Fay, your links not working.

Oops, sorry. Seems I forgot the link.

  • Just ignore Fay, im sorry Kitty but she vigourously defends any anti ebay threads and tries to ruins peoples posts by questioning your "moral crusade" instead of questioning ebay. (Obviously either works for or is paid by them)

Thanks for highlighting yet another ebay scam, its appreciated and these posts do not need abuse thrown at them, and on her behalf, i apologise, cos i guarantee, she wont.
