There are many more than 2 kinds of parents, and you have no right to think you are better than any of them. Your children survived whilst you claimed benefits by the grace of 'We the tax payer'! How does that make you a good parent? You can't eat fresh air you know.
I actually don't begrude single parents claiming benefits untill they are of school age, but when they sit there with one hand open, and the other hand pointing the finger, it piddles me off.

COs he was a psychopath (I do not mean that jokingly either - he would have fulfileld all the criteria for a diagnosis as such) lulled me into a false sense of security then the cracks started showing when I had the 2nd child on the way. He was a glorious taxpayer - a nurse.
I hope you do not think I am stupid for being in such a situation. THis kind of crap happens and can hapen to anyone. I was a full time teacher he was a nurse so the outside world thought we had it sussed.
My mum's generation thought it was normal to stop at home and bring up small kids. What about Married mothers, should we all be out at work too just to make it fair and square

Tut, tut Fred. Fancy editing your post after I quoted it to garner sympathy. What a shame your cunning plan failed.0 -

thats according to you!
I think theres loads of different kinds of parents, the lone families, SAHM, SAHD,students, part time workers......
I am probably more material than a few but mainly to my children. I go the extra mile in many areas that only finances can do......I drove to Sheffield last Friday to see my eldest son perform with his band, a round trip of approx 150/160 miles. Couldn't do that without a car and fuel, couldn't have paid for either without my job.
But I have made them 2 Banana breads this week, homemade roast on Sunday, sewed a uniform back together on Sunday night after I discovered a shreded blazer!
But only cos I have skills at hand.Panda xx

This is interesting reading for those who think 'pride' & 'reducing tax burden' should take precedence over all else...
Perhaps in the longrun the taxpayer is making a saving with singleparents, think of the future costs with all the obese children of the taxpayers now.
We found that children were more likely to be overweight at age three if their mother held employment since their birth," said the researchers.
"Children's likelihood of being overweight increased with the number of hours their mother worked per week. However, this relationship was only significant for children from families with the highest household income levels."
The report adds: "Long hours of maternal employment, rather than lack of money, may impede young children's access to healthy foods and physical activity".
Children from families with incomes of between £22,000 and £33,000 were 10 per cent more likely to be overweight or obese than those from families in the lowest income groups. Where income was £33,000 or more, children were 15 per cent more likely to be overweight.
Children with child care were 24 per cent more likely to be overweight or obese than children cared for by their mother or her partner.
The report links the explosion in childhood obesity with the rise in women going out to work, particularly those with young children.

Children get fat because they eat crap (I should know, I see them on the bus eating Greggs pasties, sweets, biscuits and cakes for breakfast) and over protective parents refuse to let them out in the fresh air to exercise.
It isn't hard to understand - eat more calories than you expend and you get fat.0 -
Anyway people, it has been fun but I have to go now. I need an early night, after all, I have work tomorrow. Well, someone's got to go
