    ?

:D You could have the face of Cumberbatch, body of Brad Pitt & the seduction skills of Mr Darcy & it *still* wouldn't cut the mustard with ripping me off every month!

I think this guy's gf should be freezing her cards in blocks of ice!

Rob - if you had simply come onto Old-Style and asked about 'good' swaps for dropping a brand, then you might have had some helpful advice.

However, your initial post makes it clear that you are, in effect, planning to steal from your girlfriend...you are taking her money, telling her it is for food, and then keeping some of the money for yourself...this is theft!

Sorry TightRob, if you had simply asked for help in changing to unbranded food items you would have been supported and helped by the lovely people who inhabit this forum.

Instead you seem to be asking us to help you steal from your girlfriend and deceive her into paying out more money than she needs to so that you can pocket the extra money to pay your debts.

These ^^^^ 2 posts tell you exactly the same thing.

And that is why you are not likely to get any suggestions about dropping brands.

Having read some of the OP's other posts, I'm not sure he is a troll - as I posted earlier in this thread:

I'm not sure that's true having read some of the OP's earlier threads.

I just hope the OP's girlfriend went into this with her eyes open in full possession of the facts.
I think he has a gambling problem and is in debt because of that.

I think he seriously believes that trying to rip his girlfriend off without her knowledge to pay off those debts is OK behaviour.

As per my post #66, if he'd approached this in a different way, he would probably have had lots of advice by now.

Instead, posters are appalled at the way he is going about cutting spends - that would be his girlfriend's spends - and are concentrating on that aspect.

He says his girlfriend 'knows about it'.
I'm not sure if 'it' is the gambling, the debts or both.

I hope that she is aware of both.
She sounds a generous person and I hope her trust in the OP is not misplaced.

If she is paying the whole of the grocery bill for 2 people - the OP has stated he has "told her that she needs to double that weekly food budget and give me the money and I will feed us." - she deserves to be part of the decision to brand drop - but only the brands that she is happy to drop, and not solely for the financial benefit of the OP.

It's the underhandedness that is wrong - every poster has the same opinion.

As another poster has said - I hope the OP is getting help for his addiction and proper advice on dealing with his debts.
Both of those will help his financial situation and not be to the detriment of his girlfriend.

I was actually going to pop back here on Sunday after the weekly shop and let you all know how I got on but I'm sensing that you won't care.

Given the nature of this website, I think we all care about saving money & cutting costs and care about helping others to do the same.

Sadly, I think your comments have managed to alienate almost everyone who's responded to your thread. :(

I certainly care more about your girlfriend whom you've admitted to planning to rip off than how much money you've managed to make out of her with your brand drop plans.
