Morning all. I didn't make the card or sort the charity bag yesterday, got absorbed in the Tour de Yorkshire.
Today DH wants a full English breakfast so I'll do that, walk the dogs and see if there's time to cut the grass before bowls later.
Have a great day everyone.Spend less now, work less later.0 -
Kitten rule 1 - the kitten is to stay downstairs
Kitten slept upstairs
Kitten rule 2 - kitten not to sleep on human bed

Phew!
I've spent most of this week cleaning dust up, as we are chipping mortar out of one end of the kitchen wall. Messy job. I think I may have persuaded OH to actually pay someone to do some work on the house though, after explaining for the hundredth time that there aren't seventy hours in a day and we can't do it all ourselves.
Rant over!
Today I have a list of doooooooom:

Good morning
Lovely sunny morning here today. No Parkrun for me today, as my ankle is still really painful from last weekI am gutted! Who would've thought I would be disappointed about NOT running!!??! Not me!
Lazy start playing about on the iPad in bed. I have had some breakfast, so now I am going to make a lit of what I hope to achieve today!- empty DW
- put on WM
- take DS to work - pick up some bits in town, including money bags
- clean off windowsills in kitchen
- clean windows in kitchen - put on fly killing stickers
- clean patio doors - put on fly killing stickers
- WUDUPA
- mop dining room
- sort out change into money bags
- meal plan for children for the week
Well - that'll do for starters! I am sure I will be able to find other stuff. I am hoping the fly killing stickers will do the trick, as our stoopid dog has a fly phobia! As soon as we open the doors to let the fresh air in, they come buzzing in to chase him. It's so stressful - for all of us!
Ok - 1st job - WM, then I can hang it out
Good luck to Valli Sis - at least it has warmed up a bit since mid week!!0 -
Jolly well done Dancemum on being Slimmer of the Month!
We miss you Mrs MP, but as long as you're enjoying the work - go for it.
(((hugs))) Valli for Super-Sis's running and all of your memories. See below for kitten stuff.Poppy is VERY assertive.
Old cat has run out...
They will rub along.I'm sure.
That's exactly what they need to do but won't if you don't get involved. To bond cats you have to grab the one that is trickiest (probably the older resident one in this situation) and slide your knuckles along their muzzle whiskers, both sides of the face, front to back, each side at least a couple of times, more like three times (to get the scent of the older animal loaded up on your hands).
Then you get your helpful DD or DS to hold the kitten and you transfer that scent to the kitten's whiskers in the same way immediately afterwards. If it's got any self-preservation instincts it will hiss and spit at you because this is the very thing that it sees as a threat - the scent of a strange cat.
Have been hissed, spat at and clawed while you load your knuckles up with the kitten's scent, now mixed with the resident cat's scent, you go back to the older cat and repeat the knuckle-dragging on the older cat's whiskers, so that they're now imbued with older cat and kitten mixed scents.
Do that three or four or as many times a day as you can for the first two or three days and you'll find they accept each other just fine. The true test is when the older cat (if it's a female) washes the younger cat, or when they choose to rub themselves along the side of the other one.
I've only failed once with this technique over about a dozen cats, and that was Devil Cat. He fully intended to kill the resident cats and scent wasn't the issue with him - he was an entire tom, about two years old and had been a starving stray for long enough in the winter to know it is a kill or be killed world. It's why we only have one cat at the moment.
The older cat needs to know there is somewhere it can go to get away from the kitten - they usually choose somewhere high up which the kitten can't reach while it's coming to terms with being ousted as the only cat.
I'm so jealous I can't tell you!
Kelpie was given a beef tail at the chalet yesterday. He promptly dug a hole and buried it, the first time one of my dogs has ever done that! He went back later and dug it up again which was even funnier.
This weekend is going to be a 'Flying Finishing Up' weekend. The house is full of half-completed tasks again, some paperwork, some Flying, and we're off to Brittany for 24 hours on Monday night. I need to know I'm coming back to a calm, organised house so that I can concentrate on other things. Nothing is a huge job, all of it is literally just finishing off, so it should make a massive difference without a lot of effort. Excellent.Better is good enough.0 -
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for that Honey Bear.

Good luck with the moggy strategies, Valli
We were out till 2:15 and now I'm not sure how it's 5pm, kids want dinner, I only had my lunch at 3 :rotfl: suppose I will end up cooking twice... And I've only just tidied the kitchen.
I have, however, soaked in bleach all their school shirts and they've been washed and out on the line, look much better. Also evicted piggies for a few hours and swept - replaced hay bits etc.
DD is shattered, 2 hours of dancing followed by a 2 hour playgym party  bath and bed in an hour!
Oh. I jumped a red light earliernot intentional. Hope there wasn't a camera. I don't know why I kept going. But I was through and I thought OMG that's red not green, what am I doing? There was nothing coming through the junction. I did look. Doh.
Right. Food for children!Bossymoo
Away with the fairies :beer:0
