No good asking me about beer US, it's the beer that comes with the Wilko starter kit. If that's successful, he's going to try a different one.
Forgot to say earlier, I'm glad you got your Christmas Day sorted.
I'm another one who always donates to Salvation Army, they do a brilliant job.I get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0 -
I was going to do some Nanny Ogg style singing but the rude word filter applies sadly. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

Just read back through to your helpful and thought provoking post. Hadn't thought about the sleep depravation aspect either. I've done some work recently with case workers who support homeless people with medical isssues and it has been a real eye opener for me and my relatively sheltered little world. There for the grace of god (insert deity of choice) go I.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

It was the Hedgehog song wasn't it :rotfl:
The song and lyrics can be found here,

I agree, unless you have experienced it, it is hard to understand just what can happen to a person that isn't getting enough sleep, sustenance or warmth / shelter. Unfortunately, a lot of folks who end up on the streets also have psychological / emotional issues and / or dependency issues...
I met a lot of good people who "fell through the cracks", some sadly have since passed on...
I met ex-military personnel that the military / government failed to care for and support when they finished their term of service and returned home from conflicts that many of their comrades did not... PTSD is a truly terrifying thing, both for the person suffering it and their friends and family...
I also met folks that ended up out there when the "Hospitals" for the mentally ill where being closed... "care in the community" failed them too...
A lot of homeless people are homeless through no fault of their own and it really upsets me when I see or hear folks referring to the homeless as just druggies or drunks
Yes, they are there among the homeless and they have their issues too...
Maybe I do need to write up my experiences... it may help me as well as others...
Thanks for reading, bit of a ramble again

It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Lovely bright and fresh morning "North of the wall"
So, do I head for the North West Highlands OR down to The Lakes... not been down there for a long time... going to check the weather for down there...
OK looks goodMostly sunny and dry but will need to wrap up as the wind chill is severe...
Heading down in about half an hour then.
Wherever you are and whatever you're doing today, have a good one

Evening folks
Had a lovely day down in The Lakes...Derwent Water, Keswick, out to Cockermouth and then back up home via Ullswater.
Very bright and sunny but there was a definite wintry bite to the wind.
Hope you all had a lovely day today too
